Micro needling?

I'm trying to improve my skin. 50, healthy lifestyle but far too much sun in the past.
I'm on the Retinol, Vitamin C, Factor 50 now.
I went to a reputable therapist who steered me away from IPL and suggested micro needling. I've read the leaflets and googled but thought I'd ask here before committing.

Maybe it's not a popular treatment?
Any experience would be very welcome please.

I get mirconeedling done every six weeks. A lady in the next street (fully qualified) who has a home business does it for me for a very reasonable price (£30) but when I previously looked at proper clinics that do it it seemed really expensive. I do think it makes a difference. For context I am 31 with very fine lines but nothing major.

Thanks @Lavender24 I've been quoted £250 which is a lot

Oh my god, that's insane. I wouldn't pay that. See if you can find someone local who does botox etc at home who would be able to do it for a more reasonable price. I think there are pens you can buy to use yourself at home? I haven't really looked into that though.

I’ve had it done, it helped some minor scarring I had. I would say be careful about who you go to - it was more invasive than I expected! And had a good few days recovery time. I certainly wouldn’t be going to anywhere other than a reputable clinic - mine was done by a nurse. There are risks so definitely worth a good amount of research.

Ive just started doing dermarolling at home, too soon to tell as you do a treatment very 2/3 weeks ago I've only done it once so far.

Is your problem with wrinkles or with pigmentation patches?

Thatswhatmamasaid · 04/03/2022 16:25

I'm in London and 200-250 is the typical price for microneedling at a reputable place in Central London. I've had two sessions and the results are good, but subtle.

Thanks for the comments, I guess I'm never going to undo years of neglect.
I've got brown spots, quite a few lines and dark circles. I got the impression that micro needling was the holy grail.

Look into niacinamide and azelaic acid. One or both of them (can't remember) is supposed to help with pigmentation and they aren't expensive.

I'm doing dermo rolling on my tummy. Definitely looks red for 48 hours, but I think it's helping. I'm doing it every 2 weeks, although there's not much written about it, the few bits I've seen say every six weeks, but if I have a cut it heals within a few weeks. I can't remember the needle depth suggested for faces exactly, but I have 1.5mm I think it needs to be 0.5mm for the face. I bought it from boots.

ArabeI · 04/03/2022 18:31

Apparently it helps with large pores, fine lines and general skin condition. Face looks quite red immediately afterwards, no idea what the recovery time is like.

I'm guessing the home kits are not the same as the salon/medical version? I know of people who swear it helps (home kits) and others who say it's 'woo' with no benefit. Hence watching this thread with interest!
