My teenage daughter is suffering very badly from acne. What would you recommend for cleansing her skin. Something that will help clear the spots but still gentle?

If it’s really bad it would be worth speaking to a GP. I had a horrible flare up of acne in my 40’S. It affected my confidence badly. The Dr prescribed Duac cream which was brilliant & a quick Google says it can be used above age 12. It is quite drying, it says apply daily but every other day cleared up hideous boils in just a few days without leaving my skin so dry that it was flaking off!

Duac Once Daily Gel is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris, particularly inflammatory lesions, in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above

Thank you will try that. It's really bad I'm guessing from all the hormones. She doesn't seem to be too annoyed but it looks really painful and inflamed

My DD16 has been suffering with cystic acne for approx 6/7 months after coming off the pill for mental health reasons. It’s almost constant and red, inflamed and painful across her forehead. She finally got a GP appointment 2 days ago. I didn’t think they would take her seriously but we were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. She has been prescribed 3 months of antibiotics and a topical gel to apply every night. As the previous poster mentioned she’s been warned the gel can be very drying but it’s worth persevering. My DD is so pleased that she finally has a way forwards to tackle the problem as it was really starting to affect her confidence and self esteem. I would definitely recommend a visit to the GP to see what they advise.

That's great its sounds like they have given you a good plan. I was wondering would birth control but she's only 13 so don't really want to go down that route. I'm going to go to Dr and have ordered some cleanser with SA so hopefully it's not too harsh
