Best make up set for Tween?

My dd has lots of bits and bobs of my old make up that she used to use for messing around with, but now she wants to start practicing properly and I'd love to buy her a start up kit.

My mum never showed me how to use make up, and I have incredibly sensitive skin so I'm not best placed to know what to pick. She has dry skin and has already got a few little spots so it needs to be something that won't affect her, but also not too pricey!

Any recommendations?!

  • Lip gloss
  • Eye shadow pallet
  • Mascara

I wouldn't get foundation/blusher/highlight/bronzer. Better to buy good skin care (cleanser, moisturiser), so her pores stay clear.

Thanks duvetdayforever for the cleanser tip, I hadn't thought of that!

I like Revolution! Nice quality for the price and they do plenty of fun eyeshadow palettes and bright packaging. They were on 3 for 2 on Superdrug last week and often are on offer. They also do skincare Smile

The ordinary squaline cleanser is the best make up remover I have ever found. And if she gets spots try some spot patches to help clear them up and more importantly stop her picking them.

Make up brands I would recommend would be elf definitely and if you feel spendy glossier. But if you find a really good boots or Superdrug branch near you (they are so changeable!!) maybe a voucher or a budget she can spend on things she wants. Look into primers especially for eye lids and setting sprays as they will make a difference to how well her make up lasts and how easy it is to apply.

Revolution beauty or even Primark. I LOVE my make up and have quite a lot of high end palettes, but my favourite ones happen to be one primark one and an XX revolution one. Revolution often have decent sales too.

And Primark micellar water is amazing too.

I'd suggest mineral make up as it's kinder I think. I'm not sure of starter brands.

I've just had a look at the Boots No17 range because that's what I used when I was a teenager and they do clear mascara, translucent powder, clear lip gloss etc so I'll order a few bits and bobs from there to start off with.
