How to figure out my colours without spending £££

Does anyone have any tips for how to figure out my colours, without spending money? I’d love to have a proper consultation but I just don’t have the spare cash right now.

I’ve used various online tools but they always give conflicting answers. I have mousy mid/dark brown hair, light-ish blue eyes, and pale skin, prone to freckles. I think my undertone is more pink thank yellow. I just want to feel more confident in my clothes. I don’t even know if silver or gold should suit me more, if black or navy suits me, etc. Help!

I worked mine out by looking at those colour wheels / guides with celeb photos on, basically picking the one where the celebs colouring looked like mine if that makes sense

You sound like you have same colouring as me - clear spring so I suit greys, teal and blue, cooler pinks, soft whites, pistachio . Basically anything the colour of sugar almonds or stucco Georgian houses! I can also take quite a strong colour depending on its undertones so I do like the odd bright red or citrus.

I wear grey or navy as a 'neutral' and black even though I shouldn't I try and avoid anything autumnal or jewel like - no oranges, browns, maroons. That said I use this as a guide, not the law. I do own black leather jacket / shoes / skirts / trousers. I just try and make sure the flattering colours are next to my face.

Get in a room with lots of natural light, a mirror and all your clothes - hold them next to your face and see what makes your skin glow / what brings out the shadows and lines.

When they do colour analysis they hold big scarf/swatches of different colour fabrics up to your neck and you and the advisor decide what colours suit you. I had it done when I was in my 20s (many decades ago) and I was clueless at first but after a few scarves I soon realised what was happening and could see for myself what colours made my eyes pop and flattered my skin tone.

You could try a similar thing by just going to different shops and holding different colours under your faceuntil you find the ones that make you go "wow!'

I think you can figure it out if you really try a lot of colours next to your face. I have struggled to get clothes in the rust colour I know really suits me though! Never had my colours done but navy, rust, olive, lime, maroon.. they suit me. White makes me look awful. Dusty pink or duck egg blue are the closest shades to white i can wear.

They say that that can be a clue. Autumns look worse in white, so i knew I was an autumn when I read that.
