Fine, flyaway hair - easy and commute-friendly office look?

Help! Starting first new office job since becoming a mum. Want to finally figure out what to do with my annoying hair. It's fine and flyaway, but in good condition. Currently between chin and shoulder length, but thinking of growing it out a bit to give more options. Really want a nice easy way to give it a bit of oomph and polish.

Challenges:

  1. I don't have time to wash it in the mornings, I have to do that the night before.
  2. As mornings are so hectic with DC, I don't want to use electric or heated devices, too nervous about accidentally leaving them on.
  3. Wary of wearing it too loose, as I'll be commuting on public transport and on foot, so the wind will mess it up.

Was thinking of trying sleep-in bendy rollers and an updo or semi-updo. Never used them before. Any thoughts??

Wash and rough blow dry the night before, and curl it with a curling wand. I literally split mine into 8 sections- 4 quarters with the top half, 4 quarters on the bottom. Wind the entire section round the barrel and hold. This will take less than 10 minutes

Use a soft scrunchie and tie back into a bun or low pony. Spritz of hairspray, sleep in it.

When you’re off the bus- take out the scrunchie and run your fingers through your hair, or brush gentle against your hand with a bristle brush.

Super easy blow dry hair.

Get some silk pillowcases, they have really helped my hair be less flyaway.

Wow, thanks for the tips so quickly!

Silk pillowcases might have to be a birthday treat.

Supima - thanks for the instructions! Sounds like something even I can do Grin Can I ask, do you have fine hair too? Does it help with volume at the top?

I have fine hair but lots of it. You’ll probably get a better result if you have less hair!

Would you consider going slightly shorter with your hair? I’ve got really fine and flyaway hair which is currently cut into a short, layered bob. Probably to my ear lobe length. I wash & dry it the night before using a bit of Frizz Ease then straighten it. Sleep on a silk pillow case, next morning run some wax through for texture then a quick spray of JF moisture barrier hairspray to stop it going fluffy!

Thanks, I've considered it now and then. I usually decide against it, because I'm just so rubbish at getting my hair to sit right, and at least longer hair can be tied back in a bad hair emergency. Starting to think I need some kind of beginner's lesson on basic hair care! I feel like every day is pot luck Confused

Fine/flyaway hair (lots of it) layered lob here
Recommend umberto giannini blow dry in a bottle for when you dry your hair.
Tbh I wash mine every morning spray it with this and blow dry upside down. Takes 10 min

Have you a revlon one step - it's a game changer for me. Use mousse and do the night before. If it's gone frizzy over night spritz with water and redo the top- really is a Swishy blow dry.

I have Really fine hair too. I can pin back one side in a twist or pin the front back or do a a half up half down. Or a baby bun on crown.

Mines Too fine to braid it just slips and curls Go scraggly. A rope braid does work though And easy.
