boot straightening strips?

Does anyone know where you can get these in the UK - the internet tells me that they exist but I can't find them! They are apparently plastic or metal adhesive strips that you can put in leather boots to stop them creasing/folding at the ankle.

My boots always bend in just at the ankle, and then it rubs and gives me terrible blisters. It's hard to find boots at the best of times because i have huge calves, so I got them from Duo Boots, and they do fit generally well, but the ankles are a bit big, and that is what starts the creasing I think.

I've put no-friction patches on the place it bends, and wear socks as well as tights, but it doesn't help enough. I end up wearing a blister plaster all the time. So something that would go in the boot and keep it from bending just at that place would be perfect, and I read that these exist, but can't actually find anywhere to order them from (UK) that genuinely has them in stock.

There are other solutions that apparently hold the boot up ('boot bra') by straps around your leg that clip or velcro to the top of the boot and stop it slouching at all, and I could try those perhaps, but given the shape of my legs, with really wide calves, I think that would just slip down.

any other ideas?

(I'm trying a DIY solution made of plastic strips from milk cartons, but I'm not sure they are going to stay in place properly when I walk, and may give blisters elsewhere!)

The DIY solution did actually help, but it was a bit difficult to get them to stay in place, so if anyone does know of something available that is self-adhesive etc, that might work even better....

I've done this using plastic boning from a haberdashery shop, which is meant to be used for strapless dresses. I then put double sided gorilla tape along it and then stuck it inside the boot.

thanks, I'll have a look for the tape - maybe that would be strong enough to hold something in place. Sounds like DIY solutions might have to be the way for now.

I did find the name of a couple of brands that produce something that sounds right, but nothing actually in stock, in the UK.
