Wash twice
And you might have to get a strip type shampoo (the name of them has truly escaped me!) it’s like it strips everything off the hair. You might have build up

MintyGreenDream · 24/02/2022 08:12

Thanks 😊

Me too! I think there is something in switching brands as you get a build up and your hair gets used to shampoo types and balances the grease to match.... so I reckon I need to do a switch for a bit.

anotherbloodyyearofcovid · 24/02/2022 08:25

Wash your hair less often, use conditioner only, not shampoo

Chelsea26 · 24/02/2022 09:00

I agree with shampoo twice and then only condition the mid to ends. I used to have to wash my hair every day and can do three days (up on the third!) now if I have to!

Notthatapple · 24/02/2022 09:06

Dry shampoo, if all else fails. My hair is quite fine and so I've always had to do this on day 2 (or 3).

Bert2e · 24/02/2022 09:45

Check shampoo and conditioner for silicone (or anything else that ends in ....one) it can make hair very greasy.

BrassyGrey · 24/02/2022 09:53

Dropping in here as I've currently got another thread going about my hair disaster, and have been looking obsessively into shampoos as a result. I came across this one, and noticed that loads of the reviewers say it's helped with the issue of hair feeling greasy soon after washing

Haven't tried it myself though (yet - I think by the time I'm done I will have tried every hair product on the market Confused)

I switched to a shampoo bar and my hair now goes three days where it used to be greasy after one day. Most of them don’t use sls which is in shampoo and apparently causes us to make grease.

ButtockUp · 24/02/2022 21:04

You need to suffer a bit but stop shampooing your hair every day.

It took a while for me but I suffered with daily washing at one time and now, shampoo barely once a week, maybe every two weeks, and I only wash with baby shampoo.
Mostly with conditioner, every few days.

Coffeepot72 · 24/02/2022 21:09

Welcome to my world! I have washed my hair daily since my teens, I tried to train my hair for alternate day washing during lockdown but to no avail.

Try a clarifying shampoo like Vosene once a fortnight. It will get rid of any product/silicone build up and your hair should feel swishy afterwards.
Pancakeorcrepe · 24/02/2022 21:15

Sometimes I can’t even wash it out with two shampoos, still have that waxy residue. I think it must be hormonal.

AnxiousHeffalump · 24/02/2022 21:17

Can’t you wash it every day?

Vthirtyone · 24/02/2022 21:19

It could be silicone build up, basically plastic in the shampoo that coats the hair. You need clarifying shampoo, or can use washing up liquid. Then only use shampoo which is clear in colour, not pearly.

ByTheNine · 24/02/2022 21:21

Fairy liquid, once every 2 or 3 weeks. If it can clean a frying pan it'll clean your hair! Mine is really soft and shiny afterwards, a bit too clean in fact as it gets a bit fly-away.

MellowMelly · 24/02/2022 21:35

I noticed the same problem with my hair and I am also 42. I figured it was hormonal.
So I am using Alberto Balsam shampoo bar. I read about it on another thread on here and it's been a quiet saviour. It has taken a little getting used to as I'm so used to the lather shampoo produces but I love it and so does my hair and I definitely do not have to wash my hair so frequently now!

Playdoughcaterpillar · 24/02/2022 21:37

Try shampoo bars instead. I no longer have to change brand regularly now to avoid build up.

ballerinaqueen · 24/02/2022 21:42

Try OGX charcoal clarifying shampoo, it's sometimes half price, usually £7 down to £3.50. I get build up from different products and it's very good and getting rid of amy residue
