My hands are awfully rough! Help!

I moisturise daily, use hand moisturising gloves, I drink lots of water, I take collagen supplements and other vitamins, I eat well!!

Why are my hands so awful??

I'm embarrassed when DP wants to hold my hand, I don't wear my engagement ring because it's such a beautiful ring that my hand don't do it justice!!

I'm getting married in a few months and the thought of these hands in my pictures make me sad.

I want to go for a manicure but I'm so embarrassed to.

I've used the work hands cream and I've nearly finished the tub but still have crappy hands and brittle nails!!

Please help by recommending something that will work so I can have nice soft feminine hands, finally!!

@Ashamedtoshakehands

I've tried the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream concentrated before and it makes no difference sadly. And I cant bare the thought of strong smelling creams, i have quite a sensitive nose and that would really put me off using a cream. I do have palmolive bar soaps as I did notice the liquid soap especially the cheap ones was making my hands worse especially at the start of the pandemic. I also have the carex liquid soaps but i do try to stick to the bar instead. I've been on amazon and have ordered the weleda skin food, germolene and cotton gloves to wear at night and I've added rubber gloves to the shopping list as the ones I have are large and just too flappy, I'm just going to have to persevere with all these tips for a while and hope that something works.

thank you all for your time and tips Smile

Just a thought.. do you wear gloves when going out? In cold weather hands suffer a lot if you don't wear gloves

Definitely agree with this. I always wear gloves in winter - in fact from about September/October, right through to about March/April, it needs to be about 12-15°c outside for me to entirely abandon them. I have Reynauds (poor circulation which causes very cold hands) but it does also mean that my hands don't get chapped skin from the wet & cold. TBH I've been known to wear gloves in summer if it's chilly or rainy. Comfort before fashion every time!

Not as often as I should wear my gloves!! Will put them in my pocket now!

@Ashamedtoshakehands I put the cream on the backs of my hands only, then rub the backs together all over so I don't get greasy hands/palms. Try that in the day maybe?

Ashamedtoshakehands · 23/02/2022 18:59

I do that already but now my palms are really dry!!

My hand care kit arrived this afternoon so I'm looking forward to using it tonight! I have cotton gloves, germolene and welenda skin food!

I've put a bar soap in the kitchen and my gloves in my pocket for when I go out so I'll always have them on me.

Clarins hand cream is great. I am not a huge fan of rubber gloves but managed to find a pair of the longer fun ones and I don't mind wearing them because a. They are easy to put on and b. They make washing up less of a chore.

Udder cream from farm supply shops. Really cheap for a huge tub .
Beats any commercial beauty brand hand cream. I’ve never had such soft hands since starting to milk the goats by hand & rubbing it into their udders to prevent mastitis, I kid you not Grin
Before that the skin on my hands was like emery paper from all the outdoor work.

I found O'Keefe's worked for a while and then didn't. Have found cerave reparative hand cream to be good as, like you, I don't like anything greasy. Might be another option to consider alongside the helpful advice from PPs above. It is cheap and is absorbed quickly to allow lots of applications throughout the day. Can also try the cerave smoothing cream as a boost as it contains urea.

OP Margaret Dabbs hand cream that's the business.
Tbh even the foot cream is amazing, you could multi purpose it for hands and feet.
It is super pricey but you need only a smidge. Watch her QVC video is you're interested. She's really knowledgeable and relatable
