Is this ok for a wedding? And what do I wear with it?

April wedding but not in this country (should be about 20 degrees) and is at a vineyard. I really like it (it has pockets!) but I have no idea what to accessorise it with. I can’t wear heels unless they are blocky and I have wide feet. I’m usually a T-shirt and jeans person but am trying to go outside my comfort zone as I’m very nearly 50 and need a change.

@WhatAHexIGotInto

I think the lighting is not great in your photo because I have that dress and it's lovely, it's a beautiful colour. It fits you really well and the length is good on you. I would go for gold wedges and gold accesories. Nice pair of sunglasses too if the wedding is in SA.

I wore these shoes with mine recently - so maybe something similar? I know these are pricey (Christmas money!) but you can get lots of lovely similar shoes for much less.

I like those, think gold is definitely the way to go.

I think it’s lovely and fine for a wedding with the right accessories. I’d pick gold or beige wedges and bag too.

Lunificent · 22/02/2022 13:40

You have good ankles and shoulders and you look well proportioned so you’d look good in many things.
I agree with others that this dress is a bit too casual but I think, as you wear it well, you could get away with it with some smart accessories. Also, I’ve seen people turn up at weddings in all sorts so this will be fine.

NinjaQueen · 22/02/2022 13:56

I think it's fine for a wedding and you are on the right track with gold wedges and a slim gold belt.

Have a fantastic time.

I love your dress, and would wear it with gold block heel sandals and a chunky multichain gold necklace and bracelets. White or other pale colour wristlet purse, and a colourful lipstick.

That’s lovely.

LampBookPicture · 02/03/2022 18:48

I think it's lovely. I would wear it to a wedding but then I'm not a fascinater (sp?) and high heels sort.

annieannietomjoe · 02/03/2022 18:53

I think it's lovely and if a European wedding then they are more casual than British in my experience...I would say pretty sandals
and perhaps a jacket to dress up...if you feel good then you will look good!

Question887 · 02/03/2022 18:55

Not overly keen on the dress but it'd be ok for casual wear. Obviously it's upto you but personally I think it's way too casual for a wedding.

Suja1 · 02/03/2022 19:28

I think the dress looks great and not too informal. A pair of sandals/block heels/wedges, jewellery, hair, make-up will make it.

We all like different styles and colours. I'd look awful in the pink dress suggested - wrong colour and style for me - but it would look great on someone taller than me and with a different complexion.

Have a great time Smile

Debbacat6 · 02/03/2022 20:11

Does nothing for your shape
It looks like a bag tied in the middle rather than a dress. The colour is nice however
A longer, A line midi would look much better.. even a maxi with some simple slides or flat sandals.

whythewait · 02/03/2022 21:22

I think it looks lovely and could definitely be dressed up with gold accessories- nice chunky necklace or statement earrings would elevate it without needing to wear high heels

MummyToOrla · 02/03/2022 21:33

I think it's lovely, but I also am a v casual person and do not do dressing up at all - I have turned up to weddings in jeans and a nice top lol (with permission from bride). I'd pair it with a pair of gladiator sandals or something like that so flats but a bit dresser. Chunky belt, maybe a white/cream lightweight blazer over the top to make it a bit more formal. Chunky statement necklace or bracelet...something along those lines.

londonmummy1966 · 02/03/2022 21:38

I agree with the suggestions of gold and wedges - these aren't too pricey

Perhaps hair up to look more formal - lots of ideas and step by step instructions here

Then a pair of dangly gold earrings to tie it all together

DrWankincense · 02/03/2022 22:00

The dress is lovely and looks very good on you.

petshihtzu · 02/03/2022 22:42

It looks really good on you especially with that tan! My suggestion is dark green block heels or a light colour like cream or gold. Or espadrilles. New look do wide fit shoes. :) :)

petshihtzu · 02/03/2022 22:43

Not sure if you do have a tan lol (the legs look darker) But I think it may be the lighting. 🤣😁 But the colour looks soo nice on you!

TizerorFizz · 02/03/2022 23:04

Sorry but it’s a bit shapeless. Boden and even M&S have really great dresses at the moment. Midi is the way to go with heels. So many better shapes available and you can show off your ankles!

Fudgemonkeys · 02/03/2022 23:05

The link shows how lovely the dress is. It's lovely!

TizerorFizz · 02/03/2022 23:29

It’s a bit short and it’s shapeless. It’s not beautiful. It’s ok. But op could do better and be more stylish.

Espadrilles don’t shout wedding at me either. More beach holiday and tapas bar.

I like it. Yes, it is quite casual but dressed up with nice shoes and a statement bag, possibly something in your hair, it'd be understated but elegant and I just don't think you can go wrong with that!
