Depends what sort of hair you have and whether it's dyed etc. Personally for my hair which is thick, undyed and gets frizzy when humid, I've found herbal essences with argan oil works best for me (shampoo and conditioner). Tresemme is OK for it too but not as good at taming the frizz. Hair oil also helps (running it through on damp hair after a shower before blowdrying)

I love aussie

Honestly, the nicest ones I’ve tried recently are the Alberto Balsam 99p raspberry shampoo and conditioner - cleans well, conditions ok but smells amazing! And the Lidl 65p pro-vitamin ones left my hair nice and silky. I upgraded to the Aussie knock-offs afterwards and they’re not as good!

Both winners in my book too

Herbal essences

Coffeencrochet · 22/02/2022 02:09

I recommend the Pantene bamboo and biotin range, it leaves your hair feeling smooth and silky, and my hair does seem to be growing a bit quicker since I started using it one month ago - I have a lot of hair, somewhat curly and can take an eternity to grow.

CovidCorvid · 22/02/2022 06:31

For me the tresemee keratin shampoo is the best. Better than expensive salon type stuff.

stayathomer · 22/02/2022 06:44

For dry hair trees semme moisture shampoo is an absolute game changer. When I was younger the moisture herbal essences or pantene repair and protect did it but not now (am 41 now, don't know if that helps!) When my hair is in decent condition loreal dream lengths makes it stand-out BUT only when I use the matching shampoo, conditioner and hair serum. Actually I heard a guy on the radio say the important thing is your shampoo and conditioner match and to use a heat spray when drying at all. I don't know how important it is but unfortunately th er re is no moisturising conditioner with tres semme, they do one for damaged hair

HopefulProcrastinator · 22/02/2022 06:50

I've switched to the Lacura ones in Aldi. Keeps my thick fizzy prone hair nice and smooth.

TeaAddict235 · 22/02/2022 10:36

If you have dry hair or hair that gets dry with little neglect, the Pantene Repair and Care shampoo & conditioner are good, or better still the Garnier Naturals Maple syrup and castor oil. Although I haven't found the latter recently unfortunately.

YorkshireGirl35 · 22/02/2022 11:06

I’ve just switched to the Green/Shine Herbal Essences been really impressed so far

RinklyRomaine · 22/02/2022 13:32

Is that for cost reasons? I use the massive bottles of Schwarzkopf salon Bonacure from justmylook. About a tenner for 1l so £20 with free delivery for shampoo and conditioner which lasts well over a year on my long, thick hair. My hair has never looked better.

I condition the ends and mids first, leave it in while I wash etc, then shampoo it off mainly from the roots downwards. Never greasy, super shiny, happy hair.

daisyjgrey · 22/02/2022 14:32

@RinklyRomaine I've been thinking about co-washing. I get greasy roots but dry ends if I don't really condition them (bleached hair). Does it make a big difference?

RinklyRomaine · 22/02/2022 14:47

I don't know if what I do is strictly co washing, to be honest @daisyjgrey. Conditioning roots makes me greasy, but shampoo on the ends dries it out. I slather on quite a bit of conditioner everywhere except roots, comb through and then let it sit as long as possible, then shampoo the roots and let the run off wash out the conditioner on the mids and ends. Makes a huge difference. DD does the same now and has waist length hair bleached at the ends. She washes once or twice a week and hers is beautiful.

ArabeI · 22/02/2022 16:41

@RinklyRomaine

It sounds like you're co washing with the conditioner, but the thing you do washing the roots with the shampoo that's possibly inverted washing, I think. If I've remembered the term correctly.

OP, the only supermarket shampoo or conditioner I use (very occasionally) is the Garnier hair food conditioner.

RinklyRomaine · 22/02/2022 16:50

Ah. That sounds more like it, @ArabeI.

Freebird61 · 22/02/2022 17:52

I am older and have grey hair which is quite dry. I've recently bought the Aveeno oat shampoo and conditioner for dry hair which has significantly improved the condition. It now looks healthy and shiny after a few weeks of use, I'm really impressed and I bought it in Boots £9 for both I think.
I find this better than the Kerastase I've used before.

Hb12 · 22/02/2022 18:04

I also like the Alberto balsam ones, and Tresemme.
