Damo, windswept looked absolutely demented and frizzy,. Yet, lots of people without frizzy hair and are looking sleek. I don’t believe they’ve all had Brazilian doo dahs or have they? How do you stop your hair freezing if it’s slightly damp

The Aveda anti humectant pomade is very good at stopping frizz, you only need a tiny amount - it's great for humid holiday hair (think Monica in Friends) too.

I also do my own keratin blow drys, about every 6 months.

I’m a dreadful frizzer, hair is naturally curly and dry.
On damp days I tie my hair into a loose bun and put my hood up, spending minimal time outdoors. Undo the bun when I get to work.
Don’t ever, ever go on holiday to Florida Grin

Not heard of these clamp brushes before - is that just for when drying hair, to help smooth it? Does it matter what kind/brand/material or are they all much the same? (amazon has some £10 ones, assuming this is the right thing)

MistySkiesAfterRain · 24/02/2022 02:39

Google Denman clamp brush. Like that type.

DM bought me one about 15 years ago. Still going strong. She got it on a whim but it has honestly been the best gift ever.

I use it on rough dried hair. Pin up hair you don't want. Clamp a section of hair that is down close to scalp. Pull down while running straighteners over it. I have thick hair so I can repeatedly go over the same section. Also could just run a hairdryer down it, that also has a smoothing effect

I recommend putting you hood up too. My hair actually seems to get better and swishier after some time with my hood up. I think it’s the trapped heat!

GeneLovesJezebel · 24/02/2022 07:27

If I put my hood up or wear a hat my head gets hot and frizzes my hair. I just can’t win !

Wiennetta · 24/02/2022 07:32

Two things make a difference to me - firstly lots of deep conditioning treatments as when my hair feels healthy it doesn’t frizz much. Secondly agree a hat or a hood (if it’s really raining I wear both).

Oh actually, thirdly - if you want to use straighteners the L’Oréal Steampod is really good and definitely if I’ve used this I don’t get frizz.

whoruntheworldgirls · 24/02/2022 07:39

I've got the loreal Steampod too and since using it am noticing less frizz. It used to frizz up just from me standing over the hob cooking, that doesn't happen now nor does it frizz in fog/light drizzle. Holiday humidity will be the next test......
My hair is bleach damaged though so I've got a way to go before my hair properly behaves itself.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 24/02/2022 07:49

I have been cursed/blessed, take your pick, with dead straight fine hair. It wouldn't frizz if you electrocuted me.

On days like today, not a bad thing, but I would love a bit of frizz, at least that suggests volume.

It does however get very flyaway with static.

stayathomer · 24/02/2022 10:56

Your hair might be naturally slightly wavy? If you're treating it like straight hair it will go frizzy.
Excellent point, I have professor Trelawney hair (robbing from poster above because it totally describes me!!), with a slight wave and kink/curl. Days that I accept my frizz, still using frizz ease but not trying to battle it down with straighteners is the day it looks best. Loads of oils, Penneys/premark sell a good argan oil, aussie leave in conditioner, dream lengths serum and frizz ease but no straightening.

I've been having highlights in mine to blend the grey and it's literally become a ball of fluff.

On a whim, I ordered some Redken stuff ... and it's a miracle cure. My hair is dry on the ends but prone to greasy roots so conditioner usually makes it into an oil slick. This makes your hair supersoft, gets rid of frizz yet doesn't weigh it down. I've just ordered the shampoo to try as well.

Nothing to advise, but sign me up to the Professor Trelawney Hair Club.

I have literally sat through the scene where she is possessed and passes on the prophecy to Harry, blithely ignoring the significance of the prophecy and sighing sympathetically about her hair.
