I need a good under eye cream

I'm mid forties and my under eyes have suddenly started to look very wrinkled.
All the stuff from the supermarket/boots etc that I've used doesn't do much at all.
I'm happy to spend dollar for something that actually works!
Any recommendations?
Thanks 🙂

I've tried loads, both high and low end, and come to the conclusion that nothing works Sad. Doesn't stop me trying them all though.
Best bet if you're just staring to get crinkled is an eye cream with retinol in at night time eg Paula's Choice ceramide enriched eye cream, or Dr Dennis Gross does one ( not tried that). In the daytime something hydrating to plump up the lines and improve the appearance , I really like Fresh black tea eye cream. Or Niod fractionated eye contour complex. Plus make sure you're using a high factor spf round the eyes.

Oh thank you! I will purchase a few of these items online today. I've been hydrating the areas with cetraben as they do seem really dehydrated. I'm a bit hungover today so they look particularly bad!! Hopefully the retinol will help smooth them a bit. And lots of water!
But I think you're right that there's unlikely to be any miracle cream out there.

There's an Origins one that has caffeine in and is nice and moisturizing, with light reflecting particles so you get a kind of highlighted look as well. I don't think it fulfils its claims of making your eyes less puffy but the highlighting qualities are good.

QuizzicalEyebrows · 21/02/2022 01:29

Good ones absolutely do work. I'm currently using Shiseido Ultimune eyes but Skin 111 is excellent but pricey if nothing else works

OneSwallow · 21/02/2022 04:31

Elizabeth Arden is the best one I have ever used. It is expensive though.

Inthestillofthenight · 21/02/2022 05:43

I was going to say the Origins one, it was in the M&S advent calendar, been using it about 2 weeks now and I can see a difference in the skin around my eyes and I do think they are less puffy.

Frenchfancy · 21/02/2022 05:50

Lancôme do one that works.

wonderwooman · 21/02/2022 05:56

I like the Kiehls Creamy Avocado one.

WeaverofWords · 21/02/2022 07:10

I used to use the Clarins one but it’s a bit pricey. Got the Origins Ginzing one in a beauty box and I liked the highlighting properties but it didn’t do anything much for my wrinkles. Someone recommended a L’Oreal anti-wrinkle cream in a white jar as a Clarins substitute and it was really very good! I also tried a Garnier eye cream and it was rubbish!

boobot1 · 21/02/2022 07:25

I have used loads of eye creams, really expensive to really cheap. The one that works best, Simple moisture boost. That stuff is bloody amazing. Every woman in my family uses it now.

MagicMatilda · 21/02/2022 07:41

Estee Lauder advanced night repair eye complex is my favourite. I use it in the day too to help stop my make up creasing under my eyes.

Origins is also very good but more for brightening than fine lines I find.

Lucy Bee has a great eye serum.

Wagsandclaws · 21/02/2022 08:38

I've tried them all. I decided to try Obagi elastiderm as a last ditch attempt to see if it would make any difference.

It's pretty bloody good actually. I can definitely see a difference and I'm at the end of my first pot. It's £80 from look fantastic so really expensive but between that and the retinol I'm using from dermatica I can see a really positive difference.

There is a school of thought which says that it's not worth buying eye cream as it does the same job as a face cream. I'm inclined to agree but haven't found anything else that does this for my under eye wrinkles and I've just turned 50.

I've attached a photo without makeup - I do get Botox so that's why you can't see any crows feet on this photo but under my actual eyes are 'tweakment' free apart from retinol and Obagi eye cream. Yes I have some fine lines but that's ok, I like to think that the topical creams are keeping the craggier lines away 🤣

I've used quite a few over the years, Estee Lauder advanced night repair eye cream was one I've repeatedly bought, Nivea Q10 eye was another, at the moment I'm using Nuxe Prodigieuse eye gel cream (pink upside down tube) and it's very nourishing and doesn't make my skin flare up. I've nearly finished the tube (7 months plus) and I think I will repurchase and as its very hydrating. I'm 43 and I think the skin around my eyes is pretty good.

EliyanahM · 27/02/2022 02:25

Hyaluronic acid to plump, then argireline to stop the creasing and then a light moisturiser.

Billandben444 · 27/02/2022 07:41

This is a good recommendation! Is it the gel one? TIA

KindlyKanga · 27/02/2022 07:49

Vichy 89 eye serum stuff

boobot1 · 27/02/2022 18:25

Yes the gel one its fab as is the moisturiser

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/02/2022 01:28

I'm a single mum with no money - so I do what my mum and gran always did - Moisturiser (cheap aldi one) daily and every other day use Vaseline under the eyes. I am 50 and have less wrinkles than most of my friends.

Billandben444 · 28/02/2022 07:19

Thanks @boobot1

Just watched the Nadine baggott and Mary greenwell discussion. Mary recommended the Peter Thomas Roth instant firmx eye cream. Can't get it in UK but it looks worth investigating and hunting down. Vaseline over creams is a thing too. it has a name. Grubbing?
Imabouttoexplode · 28/02/2022 07:37

Slugging, not Grubbing!

jowly · 28/02/2022 07:46

I've just in the last week given up eye cream as I can't find one that makes a bit of difference, and am trying good old Nivea.

I'm using the thick creme dabbed around my eyes and Soft everywhere else. So far I'm impressed.

I may however be rushing to boots in a week or so Smile

loobylou10 · 28/02/2022 07:48

@Imabouttoexplode - I got this cream from Look Fantastic last month. It's very good.

ThisTooShallPassOneDay · 28/02/2022 07:49

I have loved Sunday Riley Auto-Correct which I got in the Caroline Hirons beauty bag just before Christmas. Would definitely re-purchase. It really depicts but the cream itself has light reflecting particles in it which really look great under eyes xx

Snoopsnoggysnog · 28/02/2022 07:55

I have the origins one mentioned and agree that the highlighting effect is good, not sure if it does anything for wrinkles though.
I also got a coffee one in the Holland and Barratt advent calendar that is good.
The Estée Lauder one gave me dry skin patches around the eyes.

Great tip I read on here is to try samples from Feel Unique. You can buy a load of samples or order some for free.
