Beauty wisdom suspicions

Two beauty topics which always play on my mind (even though I do both of these regularly) - clay masks, do they actually work to cleanse skin? Seems very counter intuitive to rub fine powder into your skin. I do normally get some spots coming up after I do them but could it be that the mask causes them? And secondly, pumice stones, is mechanical removal of hard skin on feet the best strategy here? Seeing as hard skin can be caused by friction in the first place. Would intensive moisturisation be a better longer term? Please share thoughts, not looking for peer-reviewed science just wondering if anyone has any perspectives/wisdom here. Thanks!

I use both and they're both very effective

Thanks, I think I am being stupid just want to put this topic to rest for me. For the clay masks, do you think they have a preventative effect, ie with balancing the skin, or that they draw out spots which are below the skin's surface? I do enjoy my weekly clay mask, just normally get a few spots after and never sure if a coincidence, working as intended, or causing them Confused. For the pumice stone, do you find that your feet almost go rougher after use? Perhaps I have been using it wrong or not dedicatedly enough. I get immediate improvement with moisturisation but by the morning they are looking grey again

I used to love the GlamGlow clay masks as they really did make my skin look fabulous. Never had breakouts after use but I have dry lizard skin and just don't seem to produce any kind of oil so I may be atypical in that respect!

The skin is an excretory organ, so anything put on is only ever going to affect the top layer. Your skin is in effect, pushing stuff out of it all the time in the form of oil or sweat, so as long as you remove any product scrupulously, it doesn't really matter what it is you put on your skin, especially for a short time.

Hard skin on feet I think can also build up in response to bad fitting shoes/ high heels etc. I wear mostly flat wide boots and have hardly any dry or thick skin on them. In the summer when I wear sandals I occasionally stick a cream with Urea on them and that seems to do the trick to even things up.

Thanks a lot! Haven't used Glam Glow but sounds like you got an immediate improvement in skin appearance? I am using Aesop's cleansing mask, I wonder how it works, and if I know it has worked, as skin looks much the same after but assumed it was 'cleaner'. For the feet topic, I feel like that is where my hard skin comes from as you said - my boyfriend swears by two pairs of socks to avoid any friction and his feet a silky smooth. I will look into urea creams and see if I have any luck. Thanks again!
