Stain on tooth- any dentists/hygienists out there?

Or anyone who knows anything about teeth?

My teeth have always been pretty white and I’ve always had good oral hygiene- I’ve never had to have any significant dental work or fillings (should have had braces but I’m too old for that now). But recently a brown stain has developed on my front bottom tooth. My dentist won’t see me because of COVID/not an emergency, even though I will be paying as it’s cosmetic ( so not on NHS) , and it’s really getting me down. It’s so noticeable because the rest of my teeth are pretty white.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it? I’ve tried great white strips, whitening toothpaste but to no avail. I’ve include a picture- sorry it’s blurry but the best I could get.

See the hygienist for a good scale and polish.

White glo toothpaste and the brush that comes with it

Definitely needs a scale and polish by the hygienist.

Don't use white strips etc over this as the staining needs to be removed, not bleached

Do you use an electric toothbrush?

Upsetmom · 19/02/2022 13:56

It’s built up on that tooth as that tooth is placed out of line of the others. Start brushing first in the area as your brush will be dry and have more toothpaste. I would suggest you find a practice with a hygienist that you can see as a direct patient and they will remove the stain.

Thanks for the replies! Yes, I do use an electric toothbrush. Sounds like a scale and polish is in order- I will get booked in with a hygienist asap.

This is probably not very good for your teeth but I had a small spot of staining and I used an emery board nail file and gave it a gentle going over for less than a minute and it removed the stain. I don’t think it would be massively damaging as a one off and might be worth a try?

Bicarb toothpaste and inter dental brushes...
