Very dry skin face moisturiser

For years I've used L'Oréal intense hydrating moisturiser which has been brilliant for my dry skin on my face but I have struggled to get it for a while now and now it seems to be out of stock everywhere, I'm assuming it's been discontiuined which I'm so annoyed about as it's been the only thing to keep my dry skin away, and it was only £4! I've had to try the dry and sensitive one but of course my skin is back to being dry and flaky, I just feel so gross. I'm desperately looking for a similar replacement, it must be budget friendly and as I go through so much of it. Please help with any suggestions! Below is the one I used to use, I've seen it on eBay but I'm not paying double the price when I'll eventually have to find a new one anyway.

Should have said I also use benzoyl for spots so that drys my skin out more, so needs to be very hydrating!

Weleda - it's so thick it feels like spreading glue on your face but does the trick.

GeneLovesJezebel · 16/02/2022 09:03

I like the Liz Earle Superskin moisturiser

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think? https://www.johnlewis.com/loccitane-shea-butter-ultra-rich-face-cream-50ml/p5981555?tmad=c&tmcampid=7&sshare=jlappioss_Y29tLmFwcGxlLlVJS2l0LmFjdGl2aXR5LkNvcHlUb1Bhc3RlYm9hcmQ=

I use this at night over the top of my usual routine. It is really thick but the only thing that doesn't feel like I need to put more on after 30 mins.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast baum is good for extremely dry skin, especially if you've been using harsh products like benzoyl. It's very reasonably priced also.

GettingStuffed · 16/02/2022 12:34

Simple rich is very good.

KirstenBlest · 16/02/2022 13:33

Ditch the benzoyl peroxide

KalaniM · 16/02/2022 13:42

I’ve started using squalene. It’s very affordable and excellent. I got The Ordinary one.

ERDC · 16/02/2022 14:05

Second La Roche-Posay Cicaplast baum, it’s absolutely amazing for soothing dry skin.

TheTeenageYears · 16/02/2022 14:06

Cerave moisturising cream www.boots.com/cerave-moisturising-cream-pot-454g-10246704. DD also uses hugely drying acne treatment and finds Cerave does the job.

Geamhradh · 16/02/2022 14:08

Weleda Skin Food or Nivea Blue pot for a night or too.
If your skin barrier is compromised, then La Roche Posay Toleriane for a bit.

dontgobaconmyheart · 16/02/2022 18:42

The only thing that works for me is the eucerin 5% urea face cream. It somehow stops all flaking and still doesn't feel heavy or sticky or break me out.

If I'm trying to save money I'll often mix it with equal parts Aveeno cream and it still works the same, just obviously lasts longer. I find it also sits fine as a base for makeup.

gaggiagirl · 16/02/2022 18:46

Weleda skin food is about £7 from Amazon or look out for offers in Holland and Barrett it goes in the penny sale. Cicaplast baume is around the same price and available from boots. Both excellent on my dry/flakey/tight skin.

DaisyWaldron · 16/02/2022 18:52

Mine is super dry and flaky with eczema from mask-wearing, but a combination of Avène's rich sensitive skin creame with a layer of the cicaplast baum on top has improved it no end.

Try a skin oil. I got one in a beauty box and it’s made such an improvement to my skin.
Otherwise I just got the Eve Lom TLC cream and it’s too thick and rich for my skin. But I imagine it would be fab for those who need intense moisture.

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 16/02/2022 19:05

Bioderma sebium hydra. Its aimed at skin which is dry following things like overuse of actives/retinol/tretinoin/damaged skin barrier

I have combination skin and this was glorious when I had sensitive dry skin. I went through a tube in about 6 weeks though as I didn't realise how little I needed, I'd definitely repurchase it but I'm using my clinique moisturise surge now.

Are you adding in hydration with something like a hyaluronic acid serum/mist or an oil?

gerbo · 16/02/2022 19:09

Weleda Skin Food. Natural ingredients, fresh scent.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 16/02/2022 19:11

Weleda Skin Food.

If you warm it up in your hands beforehand it spreads more easily and is less glue like Smile
