light facial moisturiser for eczema-prone skin

DC2 has very mild eczema, which we're able to manage really well most of the time, and generally sensitive skin. She'd like a light, non greasy face moisturiser, but a couple that she's tried (neutrogena, simple) have stung. She uses Epaderm during flare-ups but finds this too greasy for ordinary use. I know eczema triggers can be very individual but wondered if anyone has any tips? Ideally under £20 a pot, but needs must and all that.

I have used neat vitamin E oil for long periods previously. It sounds like it would be greasy but it absorbs easily and makes my skin lovely and soft, plus no reactions. I used to buy mine in Amazon.

Dermol lotion is your fella. Great stuff. Sorts out everything with no ill effects.

My dermatologist recommended La Roche Posay (spelling?!)

I really like the whole range. The light one I use during the day is this one...

I have very similar skin and I use a light serum from Lidl, its one of the only things I've found that doesnt sting my skin. Its called Q10 Intensive Serum and its around £3.00.

Vitamin E moisturiser from Superdrug is really good. I have eczema and use it

My dd has eczema (neck & folds of arms) she likes aveeno and cerav.

fruitpastille · 14/02/2022 21:32

CeraVe? Sold in superdrug amongst other places. I like the pm (night) moisturiser. The am (day) one with spf is a less nice texture.

I use a hideously expensive cleanser and serum and moisturiser from Germaine. B-calm is the range. Really expensive but wow I even get complements on how lovely my skin is after decades of eczema acne etc.

brill, thanks so much for all the recommendations. She doesn't like cerave, which is what DC1 and I use (agree the PM stuff is better than the AM). Will check out all the other suggestions, probably starting with the cheaper ones, as I have several she can't use in the cupboard waiting for me to use them up already!

If you email the more expensive brands like germaine and explain the situation - you’re willing to spend the money but need to know if suit eczema prone skin first they should send you some samples or one of the items on offer with samples of the others.

I get eczema in my hairline and painfully tight and dry skin on my forehead. I discovered L'Oréal Paris Hydra Hyaluronic Acid moisturiser in lockdown and it’s brilliant. Really light and it’s all I use now if I’m having a flare up. It’s about £6.50 from Amazon.

Aveeno is my second favourite after cerave, much better than epiderm IMO. I’ve found washing my face, using hyaluronic acid then moisturising while my skin is still damp has really helped my eczema in the last few months. If having a flare up I’d not use the hyaluronic acid though.
