Natural Facial oil for very sensitive dehydrated skin

onwardsandupwards22 · 10/02/2022 20:53

My skin is very sensitive - maybe because of prolonged use of antibiotics.

I need something hydrating but not greasy as it's type is combination

I've heard of people using argan oil or coconut oil on the face, ideally I would love a natural oil. Anyone know which is good for sensitive dehydrated but combination skinGrin

Rosehip oil?

@sleepyduvetcat

Rosehip oil?
I don't know much about this oil, I'll read up. Anyone in particular to buy it?

My skin seems to love marula oil. It likes most light oils, but in a bind, I'd use the olive oil I cook with. I have an atopic dermatitis, and am still searching for what triggers it. I know from dermatology testing that I am not reacting to the common chemical triggers.

Sweet almond oil is what I use when my skin is freaking out, this place does lots of nice natural oils & creams for irritated skin www.handmadenaturals.co.uk/shop/shop.php?c1=BEAUTY%20BASICS&c2=PURE%20MASSAGE%20OILS

This is nice as well www.handmadenaturals.co.uk/308/camelia-ricebran-unscented-face-cleansing-oil

I like the Liz Earle Superskin oil, but it is scented.
It’s not oily, sinks in really quickly.

Squalane has had a bit of a moment recently. It's made from sugar beet or from olive oil nowadays. It's light and good for combination skins.

Make sure you search squalAne and not squalEne - something to do with how it's processed and being lighter.

Personally my skin loves the Ren vita mineral oil, but it has a fragrance so maybe best to avoid for you.

I was fortunate to receive some 'natural facial oil' from DH last night, but the less said about that the better!

I have combination skin and on the whole find oils just clog my pores, make my skin greasy but still dehydrated.

The Liz Earle one does actually seem to help, you can buy a 10ml one off eBay pretty cheap to try. Bonus is it smells gorgeous

Garden of Wisdom Prickly Pear oil is pretty good and gives a lovely glow. Boots own brand Hemp seed oil and rosehip oil are also really nice.

lunepremiere79 · 10/02/2022 21:22

You can use pretty much any lighter oil (sesame, almond, jojoba, hemp, rosehip, marula, or a combination), but whatever you do don't use coconut oil on your face -- it will break you out.

XingMing · 10/02/2022 21:24

I think marula is a nut oil. Clarins include it in some of their cleansers but i am totally ignorant of its source. I find oils are best for my skin, which is generally normal but with fierce patches of atopic dermatitis. It's probably exacerbated by radiotherapy and half a fuckton of complex treatments, so I don't feel able to offer advice.

itsnotmeitsu · 10/02/2022 22:44

I use 'Bio Oil'. It's not promoted for this, but my problematic skin has improved and I don't have many wrinkles for my age. I can't even remember how I got into using it as a facial oil, but it's now the only thing I use on my face.

I would go for jojoba oil. I have combination skin which is prone to breakouts, as well as dry patches. It's the oil that's nearest to sebum which pores produce naturally, and doesn't clog my skin.

I can use argan or almond oil, but just occasionally as it sometimes gives me spots.

Rose hip oil is also quite nice.
