What to wear to a sound bath?

I'm going to my first sound bath on Friday night and I haven't a clue what to wear. I'm not really sure what it involves apart from lying on the floor.

I was thinking lounge pants and a warmish jumper as I don't want to get cold, or there is sportswear but I don't know if its appropriate.

Anyone been to a sound bath that could help me please?

Something that makes you look like a hippy.

I wore yoga leggings and a warm jumper. We were told to bring a blanket as well

Something super cosy comfortable. Not sports wear unless that's the only thing you lounge about it

TabithaHazel · 09/02/2022 20:23

Comfy leggings and a warm snuggly jumper. Maybe also an eye mask thing - the ones with lavender inside, and also a blanket. Hope you enjoy it :)

Something cozy! I did a few breath yoga classes a while back and you get really, really cold lying on the floor.

toddlermom1 · 09/02/2022 20:26

Definitely something warm and cosy. Ive been to a few and it does get cold especially at this time of the year

What you'd wear to a fairly gentle yoga class (not hot yoga!!) plus a warm hoodie, and bring a yoga mat to lie on, a blanket and a pillow for your head. Or a comfy pair of joggers. If you happen to own an eye pillow, bring that too.

It's a lovely, very relaxing experience, you'll enjoy it.

Tie dye harems, low crotch and a hairy jumper.

Completely nothing to do with your question but I was going to a sound bath a couple years ago and was told I couldn’t because I have steel pins and a plate in my ankle. Apparently the sound would cause me a lot of discomfort.

I’d also wear something cozy, layers you can take off if needed

I want to know what happens in a sound bath - I need an update

You're lying in a darkened/dimly lit room with your pillow and blanket listening to this sort of thing for an hour or so. It really doesn't translate well from a video, the sound is really immersive and incredibly relaxing. It's honestly a lovely way to spend an hour.

Comfy clothes
Yoga mat
Cushion
Blanket
And enjoy!

OverByYer · 10/02/2022 21:52

I’ve been to a few and I’ve seen people turn up in pyjamas. Personally, I think that’s a step too far so I just wear a jogger (one), a crisp t-shirt and warm socks.

yourestandingonmyneck · 11/02/2022 16:24

Is it really just wrapping up warm, lying on the floor on a blanket, in a darkened room, listening to gongs / panpipe type music?

That really does sound incredibly relaxing.

I'm guessing the sound of the music kind of reverberates through the floor?

WildFlowerBees · 11/02/2022 18:46

Something warm and comfortable, be prepared to have a what the fuck am I doing here moment.

I love sound baths but I always feel so out of place!

I fell asleep a few minutes in when I went to one so I wouldn't know either Grin I did have a non sleeping baby at the time so it was worth every penny!

OP wear something comfy, take a blanket, yoga mat and pillow. Some people at the one I went to took thier duvets along.

CountryMouse22 · 13/02/2022 17:53

I don't know what a sound bath is, never mind what you wear to it!

Fudgemonkeys · 13/02/2022 17:55

What's a sound bath Hmm

LemonViolet · 13/02/2022 18:13

How was it OP? I do one sometimes that is about 90 minutes long - 20 min gentle sitting/floor based yoga at the start; 5 min of guided seated meditation/journaling if you like (write down your responses to the thoughts they introduce you to, sets an intention or gives you something to mull over during the sound bath!) 60 min sound bath proper - towards the start of this they used to come round and anoint you with aromatherapy oils as well, which was lovely, but the one since covid they didn’t do that. The the last 5 min cross legged at the end breathing and finally ohmmming, before covid they then bought you a herbal tea or once spiced hot chocolate at the end.

I wear comfy leggings/joggers/harem pants, cashmere socks, and multiple layers on top - long vest, slouchy t shirt, wrist warmers, cashmere drapey cardi, big floaty scarf, lie on yoga mat, 2 wool yoga blankets - one as a pillow and other one over the top of me when lying down, then pulled around me for the end but when we sit up and ommmm a bit. Head wrap for warmth as well. Very hippy dippy Grin but super comfy and puts me in a good frame of mind. Eye pillow is lovely as well but I rarely remember it!

Just a deeply relaxing sensory experience, I love it, and have come away sometimes with answers to things that I was stuck over.

Beautiful3 · 13/02/2022 18:23

Leggings and a baggy top. Wear socks, you'll want to take your trainers off. Bring a pillow and a blanket too.
