Recommend me an undereye moisturiser that will help reverse my stupidity

I've been using retinol, going gradually up in strength. I started getting standard flakey skin and despite being careful to avoid my undereye area, i it bled in over night. The result was looking like I'd got two black eyes overnight.
That was three weeks ago and with a regime of constant moisturising I've got rid of the worse of the burns and scaly skin
The issue is now that nothing I do will keep the inner skin from going flakey. I have terrible under eye circles but makeup now just settles and I end up with the product separating. It's not a good look!
I currently use kheils line concentrate, followed by Cetreban moisturiser morning and night. I've also been using the la Roche posy restoring balm to try and hurry the process along. To bo honest, I've been moisturising pretty much constantly but the dryness is still there.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a miracle product? I tried Cereve but it settles weirdly and leaves a film on my skin.

Just leave it well alone for a week or so. Give the skin a chance to breathe and heal itself.

stevalnamechanger · 08/02/2022 23:32

Put Vaseline on it . This is what is recommended for wound treatment by derms

Skin does NOT breathe .

Also I'm not sure why your skins bleeding - maybe get it checked out. I apply prescription strength retinol under my eye everynight - as do many people I'm in groups with and never heard anything like this

I have similarly dry undereyes despite not using retinol. I've cut out using eye cream for the past week or so and it's actually helped improve a lot! I also use the Superdrug Vitamin E serum around my eyes and it helps with that tight flaky feeling.
Keeping an eye on this thread to see people's advice on the panda eyes situation...

Maybe not literally, but figuratively. OP's skin isn't happy and needs a chance to breathe. It's been bleeding. It needs to heal, not be covered in more creams, if only for a few weeks.

As an aside, I did not get on well with retinol. After I stopped using it, I left my skin well alone and after about 10 days or so, all was fine again. Am now using Skin & Me and get on very well with it, so would advise OP to consider this rather than retinol in the future.

Sorry if my turn of phrase wasn't helpful. My skin isn't literally bleeding, but the product bled/travelled into my undereye area, causing the burns.
I was doing really well on dermatica until it upped to tretinoin0.25 and niacinamide 4%. I expected dry skin but really did try and avoid the eye area as my hereditary dark circles (alongside not enough sleep and too much sugar and caffeine) mean I can't be seen without makeup. No exaggeration-It looks like I have black eyes or I'm very unwell.
I'm going to leave the area for a bit and then start trying a mix of oil. Apparently rosehip, vitamin E and almond oil is a good combo.
What I would give for nice skin!

I use the Nivea cream in the blue tub round my eyes at night, it doesn't sting (even if you actually get it in your eye) and I just wipe off any residue with damp cotton wool in the morning before make-up.

Dermalogica UltraCalming Barrier Repair solved this problem for me when I'd overdone it on the retinol around my eye area.
It was sooo red and raw and painful I couldn't put anything on it - except this stuff and it healed up within a day or so. Bit spenny but you don't need much.

DukeofEarlGrey · 11/02/2022 21:48

Whenever I have damaged skin on my face the best thing to speed up repair is Elizabeth arden eight hour cream. Apply a thick coating and leave as long as possible - continuously until it's healed if you can. It's expensive but works better than anything else I've ever tried.

RestingMurderousFace · 11/02/2022 23:24

A layer of Aquaphor or Vaseline over this:

I use the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume cream on my eyes at night. It's the only thing I've found that doesn't burn after Tret application. It's not an eye cream but it's rich and soothing. It's actually designed for cracked/dry skin and it's pretty cheap so maybe worth a try.
