Brands selling other brands

Does this annoy anyone else? Like I notice M&S now sell Jaeger, White Stuff, Fat Face, Seasalt etc which is typically at a price point above M&S. I went on to look for tops and saw some nice ones but then when I looked, a couple were not M&S. They were more expensive and are, of course, not included in the various Sparks 20% off offers.

I know I can put on a filter to exclude these brands, but it's just an added annoyance. I'm sure there is some brilliant and valid sales/marketing kickback/ploy as to why some high street shops are now doing this, but as a consumer, I find it irritating.

Joules is another one that now has a plethora of 'Friends of Joules' brands selling via them, so it is default that I filter to exclude them now ....not that I shop on joules very often mind you!

Hate it. Just means I have to trawl through fifteen billion results that I’m not interested in. There’s also no way to save your options to never show a particular brand.

I like it. Often the bigger shops (like m&s, next, Just leaving! xxx etc) have better delivery options or I’m already set up with an account with them, so it’s easier to order eg white stuff through them. Or sometimes if the thing I want is sold out on actual white stuff, there might still be one in my size on m&s. Got a gorgeous Xmas dress from another brand on next this way, where it was sold out absolutely everywhere else.

I really couldn’t get worked up about this, it’s nice to have additional choice IMO and very easy to filter in or out the results you want to seen

Yes have to agree for both the reasons you stated, Next selling branded items now has come in handy several times!

I always sort by price low-high though to try and get a bargain and then stop looking when it gets to the top of my price range so the issue with some brands being more expensive doesn't affect me.

I agree - I use Next loads because the delivery and returns options are great. But I don’t generally like their adult clothes so the range of brands on there is great.

As others have said, the better delivery options is the only good thing about it. I find it very annoying M&S sends their items from all different locations though so if I order 3 items at the same time, they arrive in 3 separate parcels, often not even on the same day.

kirkandpetal · 08/02/2022 13:11

I hadn't thought about piggybacking on delivery options although does sound like it cause a bit of irritation depending on what/how many diff items you buy.
