How do I rid my legs of thread veins?

Ok so I'm on a mission to get my legs as good as they can be, given it's where I carry weight and they're saggy as I've lost quite a lot(but not all) of the flab.

I have thread veins just above my knees which I'm really self conscious of. I never wear skirts shorter than midi, shorts or a swimming costume.

In reality they're not awful, but I don't like them.

What is the best treatment, where do I go for it, and what can I expect to pay. Some idea of what they can manage in a session would be helpful too.

Thanks so much.

I'm not medical.... butt I've looked into it for mine. You would want foam for varicose veins (sclerotherapy).

Here in the south east, it was going to cost me £300 for a consultation, where legs would be scanned to check that the deep veins work well (takes about half an hour) . Then it costs about £3k for the procedure - where they inject the superficial, visible veins full of stuff to block/deaden them, and take them out (I can't remember how long they said this would take but I believe you'd be in and out in a morning).
I've been told it's a non invasive, painless and routine op. Might be worth checking out? I couldn't have it because the sonographer told me my deep veins weren't up to standard.

I’ve been using the Skin Doctor cream for spider veins/ thread veins on my thigh and it has made a big difference. Used religiously twice a day. And I’m planning a tattoo for a complete cover up!

@SomethingToldTheWildGeese thank you.. that's a lot of money but it would be so nice to be less self conscious. I'm sorry it wasn't possible for you.

@bellabride Just had a look at that on Amazon (where the price is well reduced btw) and I'm tempted to have a go! Thank you.

I had a trial laser session for this of a couple of minutes and it hurt like hell. There is no way that I could go through sessions of that and I have a pretty high pain tolerance level.

nuttyslackster · 04/02/2022 08:54

I have had sclero and laser each about three times. Both have been effective at getting rid of thread veins but my 'go to' is now laser. Personally I found the pain of sclero worse. But both are tolerable.

bindud · 05/02/2022 07:17

@nuttyslackster where did you go if you don't mind me asking?

nuttyslackster · 05/02/2022 09:06

First sclero was at Harley Medical Group, nearly ten years ago now. Subsequent ones and laser at local aesthetic clinic which has a good reputation.

bindud · 05/02/2022 09:07

thanks, is the clinic in London at all?

BluebellsGreenbells · 05/02/2022 09:09

Buy leg makeup! Cheaper and works.

Had sclerotherapy for mine in 2010, and they stayed away for the most part; I had a bad patch on my left thigh that had been with me since my teens together with a delightful zig zag navy blue vein at the back of my knee. Never regretted it, especially as it was only when they were gone that I realised just how painful they’d been (as well as unsightly).

BatshitCrazyWoman · 06/02/2022 09:24

I've had sclero, I didn't find it painful at all, and it works. If you're prone to them, you might get more eventually though.

imstilljenny2 · 06/02/2022 15:06

I've had sclerotherapy about 10 years ago and it didn't really work. It made them worse I think as I got discoloured 'iron deposits' afterwards in some areas. It was sore and itchy too. I got about 6 or 8 sessions of laser treatment too but I think it's only made the slightest improvement. I just use Sally Hansen leg make up now which is amazing for covering thread veins!
