New loafers slipping off back of heel and driving me bonkers!

Love these new loafers, come up high on the top of the foot, leather upper, chunky rubber sole, felt perfect when trying on but now am finding that one slips off the back of my heel and it is all I can think about when walking. I got some suede-like heel grips but they make my foot push further away so it's even worse.
I generally wear with black tights so I suppose they are quite slippy but does anyone have a solution? I'm gutted!

I tried a half insole which solved the problem for me

Justkoko · 06/02/2022 12:57

It's the back that's the problem though. The upper is leather so will flex and give, the sole is rubber and not sure if that will soften up and be more pliable. So annoying. I feel like its money down the pan. I dont want to end up with sore feet, I ditched some older loafers because they were too flexible and soft and I ended up having to kind of grip them on with my toes somehow. It hurt. These ones come up much higher on the foot so I thought they'd be better.

I can't wear any slip on type shoes for exactly this reason. Presume it's something to do with foot shape - slim ankles? Not sure but very annoying.

Heel grips....eg. Jump Sued Heel Grips currently £2.49 a pair at Amazon. This and others also available elsewhere, including shoe shops.

Suede*

Justkoko · 06/02/2022 13:14

I picked up some of those suede grips, the problem is that they push my foot further away and it feels uncomfortable!

I think it may be that they are slightly inflexible in the sole, and ever so slightly loose. Im thinking that maybe if I get some of those hidden sock things it might just fit better.

Hopefully the rubber sole will start to give a little and flex more under the ball of my foot. ??

Trainer sock under tights works for me if I'm wearing thick tights.

A half insole will push your foot back to meet the back of the shoe. They effectively drop the shoe length.

Thesheerrelief · 06/02/2022 14:38

Yes, it was the back slipping off that was the problem for me, too. The half insole fixed it.

HadEnoughOfBears · 06/02/2022 14:39

A half insole will give less room in the front of the shoe therefore pushes the foot back into the back of the shoe.

MrsTophamHat · 06/02/2022 14:50

Definitely insoles. They do make a massive difference.

Justkoko · 10/02/2022 17:21

Ive tried some half insoles in the front, unfortunately they just make the front feel tighter and the heel still pings off at the back Sad
I think it may be in part due to the thick rubber sole, its quite tough and a bit inflexible so they don't flex with your foot. I'm out of ideas.

Have you tried sticking a coarse fabric plaster inside the heel?

Justkoko · 11/02/2022 18:33

That's an idea, but feel like it'll rub my heels or half wriggle out and I'll have two gammy plasters flapping around my heels Grin

You can get gel heel pads similar to the ones for the ball of your foot - but I found they didn't stay on beyond a couple of wears.
