Hair colour recommendations to cover greys please

I've been having highlights for years that blended in my greys, however I started to need my roots doing too often to afford at the salon and also the condition of my hair wasn't great. So I used a Nice'n'Easy semi permanent dark blonde to blend the highlights and greys. I like the colour but it doesn't cover my greys very much at all.

Do I need to switch to a permanent colour and start doing my roots every few weeks? I'm scared of permanent dyes after a bad experience when I chose a shade that was much too dark and then was stuck with it.

I'm intrigued by esalon and Josh Wood, can anyone recommend? I'd love some advice as to what to choose!

I’ve replied on the other Josh Wood thread, pleased with the colour the online chat is very good, they did suggest I could leave the colour on longer for better grey coverage but I quite like how it’s blends them and I don’t end up with block colour. It’s the best home dye I’ve used.

I've used all the of the brands you mention OP. Clairol (permanent) I find really good as long as there's a colour you like. The permanent covers really well and lasts, and I like the multi tonal look NicenEasy gives.

Josh Wood was a complete disaster for me. The dark blonde, with a shot of champagne I think it was called, turned my hair into a browny orange mess, it wasn't blonde at all. It took ages to correct, and a lot of Head and Shoulders! That's put me off ever using them again. Josh Wood will add one of two toners to their colour but they have a fixed range of shades so you can't personalize in the same way as Esalon.

Esalon are what I use at the moment. It's expensive, but the colour they first made up for me is perfect, although they will tweak it whenever you want. They are very responsive to emails and overall I've found them really good.

To sum up, I've found that a permanent NicenEasy colour gives excellent colour and cover if you can find the exact shade you want. If you want to be able to adjust your shade and dont mind paying more, I'd go with Esalon.

Another vote for esalon. Really good colour, sticks, and you can adjust the colour if you feel the need.

I'm leaning towards esalon as I'd like the advice and I'm scared of choosing the wrong permanent colour, but then Nice'n'Easy is only £1.50 on Amazon today! Grin

How much is esalon please?

Just looked, and the first one is £10, then it's £25. That includes your shampoo and conditioner, gloves etc. So price wise, NicenEasy wins hands down, especially at £1.50 Grin
