I wanted to share this great facial SPF I’ve found

I really struggle with facial SPF as I have very sensitive skin, and often they make my eyes water as well (really not a good look!). It’s been worse since I’ve started using retinol as my skin is often flaky and angry into the mix, but SPF is essential so you don’t damage your skin.

Anyway, I was idly browsing Escentual (other outlets available, I’m sure) when I came across this one by Pharmaceris - not a brand I was familiar with, but for a tenner I thought I’d give it a try: www.escentual.com/pharmaceris/pharmaceris051/

OMG it is amazing! It’s pretty thick and goes on very white at first, which alarmed me, but after 20 secs it sinks into the skin perfectly. It’s really soothing, feels like a lovely moisturiser, and I can put it right up to my eyes and no watering whatsoever. It’s also mineral based, which is great with retinols and sensitive skin. It really is my holy grail sunscreen and I have tried LOADS. Just thought I would share in case any one else has my troubles.

The packaging reminds me very much of the brand La Roche Posay, right down to the font being used on the packaging:
www.meagherspharmacy.ie/products/la-roche-posay-anthelios-ultra-comfort-cream-spf50-50ml

Not saying they are the same but they are very similarly packaged.

Thank you so much, I'm always on the hunt for a good spf that doesn't irritate my skin and is a good price too. I shall be buying and trying

It does look pretty similar, I suppose they’re going for that pharmaceutical vibe. I don’t get on with La Roche Posay, I find it irritates my skin, which is weird as I know loads of people love it. Don’t have the same problem with Avene, but not a fan of their SPF, find it a bit drying.

La Roche Posay really irritates my skin too. I started using the Aloe Soothing Sun Cream from COSRX SPF 50 last year and really like it. Really nice under makeup too. Will try your recommendation to compare.

madisonbridges · 02/02/2022 12:38

It looks like pharmaceris do different types of 50spfs. A blue one that is mineral, an orange one that is a chemical broad spectrum, and one for acne and some others. How interesting. I've never seen this brand before. Thanks for posting about it. I might give it a go.

I love Korean sunscreens! They’re my usual go to, I like Missha aqua sun gel the best as it’s so light you can barely feel it. In the winter though I prefer something with a bit more moisturisation, and this Pharmaceris one is perfect.

Anyone buying it, I will mention again that it goes on very white, but it will sink in, I promise!

Thanks for posting. I use La Roche Posay (the one linked to) at the moment, but this looks interesting!

Thanks for the suggestion, I have the same problem with everything irritating my eyes, can I be cheeky and ask if you've found any mascaras, foundations etc that don't irritate? I've resorted to no make up most of the time instead of the panda look!

That sounds really annoying, I'm not so bad with makeup, luckily for me, it's just SPF that's sets off my eyes. I do still have dry, sensitive skin though, and I really like the IT cosmetics CC cream as it's nice and rich, and I haven't found it irritates. It has as much coverage as foundation as well, I think. Mascara I really rate DHC Perfect Pro - it's meant to be good for sensitive eyes and I like the fact that you can take it off with water, as eye-makeup remover does irritate my eyes! It's quite subtle though, so maybe not so good if you like the full-on effect.

Thank you for the suggestion! I have just got my first Skin+Me tret prescription, and wanted to get recommendations for SPF. When outdoors, how many times do you need to top u? How do you deal with wearing make up?

I have loads of allergies and get skin and eye irritations as a result. I am using a bare minerals full coverage foundation currently and that doesn't irritate me. And also bought Missha Ultra Powerproof Mascara recently, and had no eye irritation.

However, I know what my allergens are (roughly one's a bit complex so you can never be sure so I buy something that looks good ingredient wise and then patch test everything before using). I would guess that everyone may be sensitive to different ingredients.

TooManyPJs · 02/02/2022 18:18

@WhyPaulMemory Do you think this would be OK on combination skin. I currently use LRP which my skin and eyes are fine with but it leaves me quite shiny - would like something that doesn't irritate but leaves less of a shine. However I have greasy t zone (v dry cheeks though) - might this be too much do you think?

I have the same sensitivity around my eyes. I wear cliniques waterproof mascara which needs to be taken off carefully because it clumps, doesn't smear but unless you remove it carefully, you can have little tiny beads of black clumped mascara on your cheek.

It never gives me panda eyes though.

Heliocare gel is really good too

It might be a bit much, yes. It’s very rich and is meant for dry, irritated skin. But then if you used less in the oilier areas it might be ok.
