Hair straight then wavy aka TV Hair

I've been noticing this hair for a few years now and this article has just confirmed it -

www.theguardian.com/fashion/2022/jan/28/carries-straight-then-wavy-hairstyle-is-everywhere-heres-why

I find it so annoying that the hairstyle considered desirable is one that no one actually has naturally, and needs to faff about with heat tools to get. Anyone agree?

That said, I also feel like a look better with the straight then wavy style ... Any tips for attaining this VERY easily and quickly? (For this lazy and uncoordinated mumsnetter?)

Um, that is roughly my natural style. It's straight to my ears and then wavy/curly depending on how it's feeling that day.

It’s not compulsory 😊

I really like it and would also like to know how to achieve it easily. I've had something like it with dressing gown curls but i cba doing that all the time.

My problem is that I tend to straighten my hair to stop it looking fluffy, and this takes me less than five minutes. I'm far less capable with the curling iron, and burn myself a lot!

My hair is naturally like this, am I finally fashionable?!

I’ve been doing this for a few months now and it’s helped me move away from washing every day. Day 1, wash, blow dry (not perfect but totally dry) then I use a curling wand taking small sections and only curling from ears down. Takes 15 mins max, spray with hairspray. Day 2, can wear it down again after a quick brush out, waves less defined or else more body / volume if wearing up.
My hair dries relatively straight but is very flat, fine, lots of it and I was in a cycle of washing every day. This has definitely made every day a good hair day for me. It looks as good end of day as when it’s first styled, I only ever felt like that before after being at the hairdressers. I get so many compliments on it now. Hairdresser did try to teach me how to use straighteners to achieve it, but I found it really fiddly.
I use this wand www.amazon.co.uk/TRESemme-Perfectly-Done-Waving-Wand/dp/B010SW16NE?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

I do this quite often. I thinks it’s probably more flattering than my natural curly-frizzy mop or straight. Suits most lengths/ face shapes. I use my straighteners - it’s easy when you get the nack. You tube vids helped me. It’s probably really bad for your hair though so if you have this naturally then you are really lucky!

My hair dresser taught me how to do this.

Really works for me, and like a pp,it gives me an extra day of not washing.

It looks best when the curls aren’t too defined. Effortless I suppose.
