Would you recommend getting your colours done?

I'm 35 year old mum of twins and a theatre nurse. At work I wear scrubs so going to and from work I wear the same thing everyday consisting of leggings and a baggy jumper.

Most days at home consist of loungewear type joggies/jumpers/hoodies and if I'm going out with a friend I'll stick on jeans and a jumper.

I have some dresses that I wear in the summer, maxi floating style.

I've never been in to fashion at all, it's not something I've ever really gotten the hang off, I'm much more into skincare and makeup.

I'm starting to feel really frumpy now, I like to be comfortable hence why leggings are my go to. I don't ever wear things that are shaped, always baggy.

I've no idea where to start with clothes, I've thought about finding a personal shopper when COVID restrictions allow us to try on clothes again.

Would you recommend getting colours done? Is it essential?

I used House of Colour specifically because they also do the style session - all about your best necklines, fabric, skirt length, general keywords like 'structure vs drape' and so much more.

I wouldn't. There's plenty of free resources out there now. I had a bad experience with hoc so would not recommend them. I know some hoc consultants post on mumsnet too. Just saying!

This stylist talks a lot of sense

I have had House of Colour done, I'd certainly recommend it. I'm sure it's not for everyone but I am literally colour blind as to judging it for myself, had a wardrobe stuffed with wrong colours.
The HOC style consultation helps you work out a "look" and guidelines on the sort of clothes/shapes that suit you and your lifestyle. They arent cheap, but think how long it would take you to spend that money on mistaken purchases.

I had my colours done a few years ago with Colour Me Beautiful and found it to be nothing more than a body shaming experience. The 'stylist' look such pleasure in identifying me as apple shaped and full faced, when I'm very clearly hourglass and oval faced!

I had my colours done by HOC a few years ago and found it incredibly useful - perhaps a lot of the people who dismiss the idea can see for themselves what suits them, so they don't need advice, but I did!

I found it a fantastic experience! I came away buzzing. Seeing the difference colour made to the other women there (I went on my own) was jaw dropping.
