Tummy tuck or breast reduction?

I am only considering this and may never do either in all honesty.

But, hypothetically, if you were this person (me), which would you choose, or would you do neither and sink money into personal training etc and work shorter hours so you had more time to exercise etc?

Late thirties
Apple shape
Big tummy
Massive boobs
Skinny legs

This is me but I'm ten years ahead of you.

I was 18.3 and now weigh 12.3 so six stone lost in all.

I'm an apple shape with a large shelf tummy and big boobs, as a result even after weight loss I'm still a size 16/18 in trousers ( which looks ridiculous due to my skinny legs.

I'm now late 40's ( nearly 50 actually) and the weight loss left me with an awful turkey neck, I had that done instead but if I had had Unlimited funds I'd have definitely gone for the tummy tuck - boobs can be minimised with the right bra and with a smaller tummy your boobs will look nice anyway.

For me definitely a tummy tuck :-)

A tummy tuck only gets rid of the skin after weight loss, it won’t actually get rid of a big tummy.

I’ve lost 3 stone and do have a wrinkly belly so I’d go for the tummy tuck. However, if my breast were causing back pain, rather than just being something I didn’t like, I’d have to go for breast reduction over tummy tuck as the wrinkly belly skin isn’t visible to everyone and a life without pain would be the better option.

I'm similar @Wagsandclaws. My tummy bumps me up a dress size or more, especially after CS. It isn't the sort of tummy that will just go with more weight loss. I've been underweight and still had this problem then.

Good point re bras. But my dream is also to be able to go braless or not have to buy the special bras for giant boobs! Tricky

But I do think that exercising like a demon helps the look of both boobs and belly... So maybe that's what I should do instead of working like a demon to pay for surgery

Breast reduction is utterly liberating and the best thing I've ever done, so I'd diet and exercise to get to a weight you're happy with then have the reduction (and tummy tuck at same time, although I think this will render you pretty bed bound and helpless for a few weeks).

Hmmm my surgeon for my neck said that he could get rid of my tummy, I'm only a stone and a bit overweight so even if I lost that last bit of weight 5 children, 2 c sections latterly and being another 6 stone overweight have given me quite an apron stomach.

you can see it in all of my clothes but I try to dress to suit my shape and wear Spanx so 🤷‍♀️.

I had a friend who wanted a tummy tuck but didn't want to lose weight so she found a surgeon who said she'd have to get down to a bmi of about 27/28 then he'd do it.

She lost it really quickly and had the surgery, she's put it all back on again and now the weight seems to be in her upper tummy where it's still flat lower down.

I do think you need to be a near your goal weight to get tummy tuck anyway, my surgeon told me that my apron stomach would account for a good half to 3/4 of a stone such is it's weight and you can see on my that my arms, legs and even fingers are all slim it's just all around my lower middle Sad

I'd do tummy for sure to get a better shape, it's not fir the faint hearted though, similar in recovery to a c section.

I'm not far off my happy weight, but definitely couldn't afford both tummy tuck and breast reduction any time soon. I do think beeast reduction sounds so liberating and I actually think it would make me healthier as I would be more inclined to exercise more if I didn't have to strap the fuckers down every time I went for a run. I have been known to wear two bras at once for exercise.

Also, yes, I do fear the tummy tuck recovery. Don't think breast surgery is a picnic either though.

Dh hates the idea of a breast reduction but they aren't his boobs! And he doesn't have to cart them round all day.

I found recovery from BR pretty straightforward. Yes I was very sensitive and delicate and didn't go out of the house for a week, as I was so paranoid about anyone physically bumping in to me. I couldn't push or pull or drive either and needed a bit of help but it was much easier than I anticipated.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 23/01/2022 13:08

Reducing calorie intake and lots of walking is good for weight loss. An hour's brisk walk burns 350 calories and you might be more comfortable doing that than running. If you can walk daily and eat 500 calories less you'll lose weight successfully

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 23/01/2022 13:09

What is your bra size if you don't mind me asking? Do you get back pain?

SarahJessicaParker3 · 23/01/2022 13:18

34G! Yes, I do get back pain, especially if I'm on my feet a lot, which I am at work

I've had a tummy tuck, but it's not a replacement for weight loss or exercise, it removes excess skin and also repairs muscle diastasis. My BMI is 21 but my tummy looked big because I had a 7cm muscle separation. I'd do it again in a heartbeat but it's not necessarily a fix for everything.
