My skincare routine is pretty basic, Olay cleanser & toner on my face & neck, then Olay regenerist serum & moisturiser on my face and
Prai serum, Prai cream on my neck.
I’m turning 52 this year and I’d like to add some hyaluronic acid or retinol products to my routine but I don’t know where to start. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

My skin is very different but I love face theory as it has been very effective for my own skin. The products are packaged in recyclable materials as well. They have a little quiz to help you identify what might help your skin and I am sure I have seen retinol there.

I like Beauty Pie as good quality and developed by Marcia Kilgore.

Thank you both, I'll check them out.

The ordinary go good quality cheap HA amd retinol

I'm turning 50 Shortly and I use a cleanser, then I cleanse again, a toner ( I like the Aldi ones ) then I wait 20 mins and use a retinol serum from Dermatica ( it's £20 per month and tailored to your skin ).

I then use an obagi eye cream and a Prai ( or Aldi caviar ) moisturiser.

The real benefit is in the retinol. It's prescription strength and pretty cheap for the job it does. Any high end moisturiser won't do the job that your retinol serum does so apart from the v expensive eye cream I use most of my other skin care stuff is fairly cheap.

What are your main concerns?

The Caroline hirons book/website is fantastic for hints and tips

I use a mixture of skin care for various issues.
Facetheory and the ordinary are really lovely brands and not too pricey.
For hyaluronic serum the hada labo one is great and the bottle lasts for ever

I bought Nadine Baggott's Superdrug Winter Edit via a Sali Hughes recommendation and it is fab. It currently costs £20 instead of £30 and includes products that would have cost £50 individually. For me, it's been a great introduction to Vitamin C cream (in the morning) and retinol (in the evening a few times a week)and includes 4 other lovely products. I am around your age and these 'actives' are making a difference for sure.

I think you should be guided by what your skin needs, not your age.

I am 66 and am often mistaken for being a lot younger.

I use what you do (but not the Prai serum) although it's usually LRP or Clinique Take the Day off Balm.

I've never used retinol or Vit C. I don't see the point in Vit C- it says it's 'brightening' but what on earth does that mean? If it's to get rid of pigmentation that's another issue.

Retinol- I have no lines other than some very faint one on my forehead. I am thinking of buying retinol from The Ordinary- very cheap and many different strengths.

The best thing you can add if you aren't already is SPF 50 under your make up every single day.

90% of skin ageing is from UV.
