Alternative products to PIXI Glow tonic?

Tinks15 · 19/01/2022 19:41

Is it just my skin that doesn’t like it? Like every time I use it, it just seriously dries my skin out. So need recommendations for an alternative please?

Nip and Fab glycolic pads. I use the extra strength ones once a week and my skin glows. Love it.

userxx · 19/01/2022 19:42

Have you tried Aldi's version of it ? Bloody amazing!

Fangdrew · 19/01/2022 19:45

Strivectin lactic acid retexturising serum. They have 30% off at the moment but it still a little pricey at £42 quid. Some say it’s a little like Good Genes by Sunday Riley. You need to start gradually and build up I think to avoid irritation - it’s not for daily use.

AngeloMysterioso · 20/01/2022 00:13

@userxx what’s the Aldi version?

DedalusBloom · 20/01/2022 02:01

The Ordinary do lactic acid and it does the job.

I use the Superdrug brightening glycolic toner and it works well enough. Certainly won't be going back to Glow Tonic as it's certainly not worth the extra tenner.

Realmayowitheggs · 20/01/2022 07:07

Either the Ordinary version or the Aldi version. Both are good.

Chakraleaf · 20/01/2022 07:29

I use aldis version.

This one

There's really no need to pay ££ for glycolic acid, the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one is excellent. Boots also have an offer on the Soap and Glory version at the mo, though I haven't used that one personally.

Amelion · 20/01/2022 08:07

I second the Superdrug one - it’s really good. But if the Pixi one is drying your skin is definitely take it easy with any glycolic and just use once a week or so and see how you go.

I really like the Nip+Fab Glycolic Extreme Night pads - they've never seemed that extreme to me! They do a milder version too.

But my favourite acid toner is Alpha H Liquid Gold - it ever seems to break me.out or dry me out. Pricey though!

It's the lacura healthy glow glycolic toner, you'll find it online, It's about £3.50. Aldi also do a rose oil which is fantastic, again it's cheap as chips.

userxx · 20/01/2022 08:27

@Juancornetto the one you've linked is the rose toner, not the glycolic toner. I love them both! I bought the set of 3 toners for around a tenner, unbelievable value.

I second this. It's seriously good stuff.

Medik8 - lactic acid rather than glycolic. It’s easier on the skin.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 20/01/2022 08:52

Another vote for the Aldi version

article about it

It's not always available in my Aldi tho.

I was going to say this too. Glycolic acid really dries my skin out but lactic acid seems to agree with it much more, even the cheaper ones formulated with hyaluronic acid like Inkey List and The Ordinary are very good.

Oops, this one then 🙂

They usually have them online, definitely good value! Even with delivery

userxx · 20/01/2022 12:59

I ordered £30 worth of products that will last me 9+ months, must of got 7 items. £30 wouldn't have bought my moisturiser with my old brand.

Tinks15 · 20/01/2022 21:35

Thanks all - I’ve not looked at Lactic acid I will take a look!
