NuFace or Foreo Bear or nothing

Has anyone got any opinions? (from actual users not influencers)
My skin is looks lacklustre (yes, it it January!) but another year older and I'm definitely noticing the lack of elasticity.
Are these expensive devices worth it?
Or should I just spend more time massaging my face!

I was looking at potentially getting one of these, but looking at before and after photos I honestly cannot see a difference, besides the lighting or different angles being used, rather than any actual changes. I too would be interested if anyone really did have visable results or if it's just one of those faddy items.

I’ve had the Nuface mini for about 4 months. I notice a slight improvement in the sag, enough to keep at it anyway. I don’t think anyone else would notice though. I’m using it daily for about 5-10 minutes. I haven’t tried the Foreo one, I think it takes less time but it’s a similar concept.

Campervan69 · 19/01/2022 22:57

I have the foreo. Use it once a day for 3 minutes. I definitely think it helps. It's also evened up my face weirdly. It had got a bit lopsided. Now its toned and balanced. So personally I like it.

usrbingrl · 29/01/2022 16:53

i’ve used the nuface mini on loan from a friend for three weeks, and was amazed at the effect. i’m 44 and while i don’t have too much sagging i noticed the droopy dog effect was forming after losing weight last year. the nuface did a grand job with their primer gel, but i made sure i used it consistently 5 times a week and did their full routine. i’d watch the Cassandra Bankson nuface video below for a good idea of it.

then i heard about the foreo bear. it’s more powerful than the nuface and more multifunctional. i decided i wanted to get more out of this routine given my age and managed to get a deal with the serum on currentbody, and apply the serum about half an hour to 15 minutes before i use the foreo bear. also, the serum is definitely not enough on its own to get that ‘pull’ on your skin, so i use the nuface gel primer with it for the conductivity. it works much faster than the nuface, i love the pulsation feature as it helps me keep a steady pace and after doing the main routine i freestyle a bit. i think nuface mini was a great entry level machine but feel like the foreo bear is a more effective upgrade. there’s a video by The Organic Esthetician with a demo and review for the foreo bear below. only weird thing about the foreo is registering the device on their app before you can use it, but after i’d done that i’ve used it manually ever since.

the key thing is though to use it consistently. i’ve been using either one every weekday for 4 and a bit weeks now, but i’m cranking up to daily use with the foreo bear.

hope this helps!

I have the Nuface but got annoyed by how expensive the primer is - I switched to rosehip oil with a gua sha and am happy with the results.

saturdayhelicopter · 29/01/2022 17:07

I used to use something similar before reading up and finding out that they can cause micro tears in the skin and increase sensitivity - as someone with really red skin and obvious broken blood vessels anyway that was the motivation I needed to get rid.

I moved on to liquid exfoliants (acids) instead and feel that my skin is more consistently decent and brighter.

I also started using a flannel when washing my face for the 'physical' exfoliation, but only gently.

I still haven’t worked out how to use my Foreo Bear without the app. It just doesn’t work. Annoying! But apart from that it definitely lifts, I notice it around my eyes particularly.

Elzbells · 29/01/2022 17:18

My Foreo definately lifts my face but since I've been using it I can't drink any alcohol without my entire face glowing bright red for hours.

Horological · 29/01/2022 17:22

Sorry, I haven't tried either of those. However, I can echo what someone has said upthread about rosehip seed oil and guo shua. I have noticed a really big difference.

LesLavandes · 29/01/2022 17:23

I follow some well known derms on Insta. They don't rate these tools. I have one but stopped using it as I got bored

@doorornottodoor - I was flummoxed by this initially until I discovered that it won't work until you actually put it on your skin. So I was staring at it with its lights on and wondering why it didn't start buzzing.

OP - I bought the Nuface mini in 2017. You don't get instant results but with daily use my eyes are less hooded and my jowls have not got worse even with some weight loss. I've upgraded to the bear now because it has a stronger current and I want to do some extra work on my jawline.

doorornottodoor · 29/01/2022 18:29

@CovidCurious so funny! After I posted I had another go and right enough it started when I put it on my face. Jumped a mile in the air Grin

Feather12 · 29/01/2022 20:06

I noticed a huge improvement to my jawline after significant weight loss. It seemed to snap the skin back. I do get bored using it, but have a big celebration coming up so am forcing myself to get back to regular use. I prefer my LED mask, but the foreo is great for lifting and tightening.

Campervan69 · 29/01/2022 20:25

Which LED mask do you have Feather and what do you think it helps with?

Feather12 · 30/01/2022 04:32

I have the Dr. Dennis Gross. Hideously expensive, but I saw a change after one session. My skin glows and is really bouncy, like much younger skin. I think it is also evening my skin tone. I like it because it only takes a few minutes and I am very lazy!

PandoraP · 30/01/2022 06:58

I have the Foreo and it does nothing for me. I did give up quickly though. I just didn’t understand how it could work and booked myself in for fillers and botox. I am 50 though.

WarriorN · 30/01/2022 08:33

I think bear did lift eye hoods a little after a few weeks of using and I felt my muscles twitch a bit.

Covid has crashed the routine though.

I don't think it's a magic wand, you need to do daily and then a few times a week. I believe it's helpful if you've lost weight suddenly.

I did extensive googling first and thought I'd give it a whirl. Bear is so quick and I can use it in the shower (not under but during!) Key is no oils of any sort to get the electric contact. A few seem to use scan gel.

Caroline Hirons is indeed your woman, but she does also say that the Nuface works but must be used frequently.

Great thanks 😊 I treated myself to that one at Christmas and use it on all 3 settings every night. My routine after work is to use the foreo in the bath after cleansing then I lie on my bed with the LED lights on for 9 mins. I'm 52 and want to try to stay away from anything invasive like botox or fillers. I feel this is making a difference.
JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 30/01/2022 10:10

Does it make much difference whether you go for the Foreo bear or bear mini?

usrbingrl · 30/01/2022 13:38

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon i’d look up the exact sizes. the nodes on the nuface mini were a very similar size to the foreo bear. but the foreo bear is a smaller device in your hand than the nuface mini. i’m imagining the bear mini to be tiny in comparison!

Does smaller just mean it takes longer to do your whole face or are there other differences?

botemp · 30/01/2022 16:27

The smaller one is less powerful than the full size Bear and smaller in size so it's a double handicap of a lot more time and effort required for weaker results. I've never seen Foreo say as much outright but I also suspect it might be a slightly different type of microcurrent, the fancier professional machines have two settings (long and short iirc) and one is used for the circular muscles around eyes and mouth and the other for the 'straight' muscles, the mini bear is marketed for the eye and mouth area specifically.

The nuface mini and standard size are pretty much the same device, the larger has interchangeable heads and is larger in the body but otherwise they're the same. Both less powerful than the Bear.

usrbingrl · 30/01/2022 18:17

@botemp that makes sense. i have to admit i’ve not used it around the eyes and mouth too closely. the video by Cassandra Bankson talks about how the muscles in those areas are round and hard to work with using a microcurrent device. has anyone here had any joy?

LivesinLondon2000 · 31/01/2022 15:13

I bought a nuface for my neck which is starting to have a bit of loose skin under my chin. Used it religiously for 6 weeks, didn’t notice a difference, got bored and stopped. Also although it does say to keep away from the mid line of the neck because of proximity to the thyroid, I wasn’t keen on repeated electrical pulses around there. Though maybe they’d be good for your thyroid - who knows!
It might work better for the face rather than the neck though
