Cruelty free make up brands stocked by John Lewis

Got a bit bogged down online, so thought I'd consult the Oracle.

I have a JL gift voucher that needs to be used. I need to buy some new make up - good mascara, cream blusher are two that I really need.

I see that Charlotte Tilbury is on the 'cruelty free' lists but aside from being v expensive, the marketing irritates me a bit.

Other than CT, any other brands stocked at JL that don't test on animals?

TIA

Liz Earle, love it. The Cleanse and polish is amazing.

Bare minerals. Two faced better than sex mascara is good. They're cruelty free but their parent company (L'Oréal) is not.

JL seem not to stock Liz Earle make up anymore. just the skin care.

That was always the brand that I bought in there.

Thanks - I might have to go for that given that this voucher needs to be used.

I recommend the spf dewy look foundation stick from bare minerals. It's very good imo if you like that sort of look, blends beautifully.

I think it's good to show support for a company that is CF, even if the parent company is not. Shows the demand for it.
Obviously others may think differently.

AFAIK, no cosmetics sold in the UK are tested on animals as it’s illegal here? As pp said, parent companies might but nothing actually sold here will be.

WorriedMumsDontSleep · 14/01/2022 21:44

Companies like Garnier don't produce in the UK though, so testing will occur.

ChrissyPlummer · 14/01/2022 21:53

Also illegal.

Twitterwhooooo · 14/01/2022 22:16

Yes, it's the parents companies that do the testing etc.

Bobbi Brown is owned by Estee Lauder for example.

They do, but cannot sell anything within the EU that has new ingredients that have been tested. So, a mascara that’s been around for 40 years has probably been tested on animals in the past, anything from 2013 onwards won’t have.

Hourglass - great mascara
Lumene - some nice products with a liquid blush
