Styling short hair after chemotherapy

I’m despairing with my post chemo hair. It used to be wavy and mid brown but I styled it straight. It’s grown back totally grey and white and just grows up on top of my head like a straight version of Phil Spector’s hair. How can I train it to grow down? If I blow dry, should I dry it in a particular way? Help! Pics attached of old and new me.

Hi,
I hope you are feeling better?
My daughter's hair is slightly longer than yours having had chemo last year.
Yes, hair grows back completely different texture.
Have you tried straightening tongs?
Moisturising spray?
Defrizz spray?

She's a hairdresser btw, and recommends a natural hair dye to coat hair shaft.

Thanks for helpful advice. I have tried my straighteners but my hair is isn’t long enough for them to grip he hair yet. Perhaps I should buy mini straighteners.

First of all, congratulations on still being with us and I hope your health is improving.

I might be tempted to cut your hair close on the sides and embrace a funky crop for now. Has a hairdresser been able to give you any ideas?

Try henna perhaps, get a nice red or brown shade and it coats the hair so might weight it down some.

Thanks Zoe and Felicity

Hi, I have a years growth post chemo now, its a bit longer than yours, but grey and wavy on top and curly at the back, I've been wearing alice bands- they are currently a trend apparantly, in all the shops, material with a Knot feature, I've a few in different materials.

well done on getting through your chemo, it's bloody awful isn't it?

I bought some mini straighteners just for this reason. They did the job i wanted them to do for the short time my hair was too short for proper styling.

Thank you happyjack12 and titterofwit.
I had heard about mini straighteners. I will get some!
I’ve completed the majority of chemo, so glad. I’m on another semi chemo till August, called Kadcyla, but it’s manageable.

When my hair first grew back after chemo it was very fluffy and fine like baby hair. I actually had it cut into a very short pixie cut and it seemed to bulk up from then on.

What about wearing a knitted soft band in the winter to add some interest?

Well done for getting through chemo!
