Dewy non crepy foundation

Am early forties and since lockdown no 1 I stopped wearing foundation which has been a dream however now with no tan and winter here I need a foundation again.

I've used and was really happy with the revolution conceal and hydrate for a long time so ordered a new one but am so dissapinted with it.

My skin looks crepy and puffy and liney and it's sooo drying like I put it on and it just dries in and I can't blend it with a brush or sponge Sad

I decided to order another one but a shade darker as it felt too light although it's always matched me before.

So I ordered the glow foundation as well as foundation drops to go in the original one.

Again both are just drying and claggy.

I've looked in the mirror this morning a few times and been aghast at how liney and dry my skin looks.

I want a nice dewy glow base that's complimentary not ageing me.

Can anyone recommend any really good foundations to give me that dewy look that blends and doesn't go liney pls

Chanel Lea Beiges

I am a huge fan of Trinny London - BFF and tinted BFF plus heavier foundation options

ChiefPearlClutcher · 12/01/2022 11:43

Les Beiges sorry, dewy and v hydrating

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 12/01/2022 11:44

Forgot to add that I use eye serum cream ,a rose oil ,an expensive avante moisturiser and a night time more intense moisturiser so it's not my skin that's dry underneath.

I have recently been using No7 Lift and Luminate Primer and my skin is glowing! A lady actually stopped me the other day to tell me I have nice skin, and that's never happened to me in all of my 40 years 🤣

BusterGonad · 12/01/2022 12:25

Clinique Even Better Glow or Lancome teint miracle both have a slightly glowy look, but not huge chunks of glitter. The Clinique one is very soft, creamy and easy to use the Lancome needs one is more fluidy and takes bit more work to blend in but is gorgeous. I'm early 40s too. With dry skin.

Nars sheer glow is amazing. You can tailor coverage too.

I’m also loving the new Lisa Eldridge foundation.

I’m in my fifties with dry skin, and both work wonders 😃

I add drops of Mac strobing cream to any foundation that I want to create a dewy look.

WeAreTheHeroes · 12/01/2022 12:33

No. 7 Hydraluminous foundation sounds just what you're looking for.

I love Boots Essentially Natural foundation and stock up whenever I am in the UK (it’s often on offer 3 for 2). It comes in lots of shades and is (as the name suggests!) very light and natural - almost like not wearing any make up, but looking much better than if I were really wearing none.

Gonnagetgoing · 12/01/2022 12:44

Chanel Vitalumiere is very nice and dewy.

MorrisZapp · 12/01/2022 12:50

Giorgio Armani Neo Nude is the only foundation my dry skin can accept at all.

DoodleBelle · 12/01/2022 12:51

It’s not a foundation as such but I would highly recommend IT cosmetics CC cream - my skin is very dry and sensitive

Smidgy · 12/01/2022 13:22

I'm early 40s. I started using Il Makiage foundation about 6 months ago and it's really lovely. Usually in January/February my skin looks really drab, pale, tired and generally not great. However, this January (despite feeling utterly exhausted) the foundation has made me look healthy and glowing.

MummytoCSJH · 12/01/2022 13:26

Fenty Eaze drops skin tint - have been loving this recently and it feels like nothing is on your face.

Milomonster · 12/01/2022 13:31

YSL Touche Eclat one, Chanel Vitalumiere, or Sisley’s new Phyto nude one.

Wondaa · 12/01/2022 13:35

I'm a similar age to you and I'm absolutely loving Lisa Eldridge's new foundation. Although not particularly dewy I find it incredibly flattering. Its also very buildable so you can wear it very sheer on good skin days, or build it up a bit more if your skin has hormonal days like mine does. My favourite product to give a bit of glow is the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer- fabulous stuff, it makes your skin look lit from within!

Ilia tinted serum with SPF is the best I have found- dewy, glowy and doesn’t sit in pores. Lasts all day. I don’t wear anything underneath it as it’s better on it’s own.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 12/01/2022 13:37

Estée Lauder futurist is beautiful

sippedanotherrumandcoke · 12/01/2022 13:44

Bobbi brown skin foundation is nice and moisturising. But the Chanel one is also good

MrsBerthaRochester · 12/01/2022 14:30

The new Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful skin foundation. Light to medium coverage with a dewy finish but melts into skin.
I bought the IT cosmetics one after seeing good reviews on here but I hate it. Smells awful, transfers and gave my non sensitive skin huge spots.

BlusteringBoobies · 12/01/2022 14:46

I second this! I have quite dry skin and since using this, it feels soft and looks all dewy and lovely. My DH noticed the first day I wore it and commented on how good my skin looked.

Also not too pricey!

citygirl1961 · 12/01/2022 21:43

@Lilliangish - I use Essentially Natural foundation too, which shade do you use, do you find it OK for summer and winter?

LillianGish · 13/01/2022 08:44

@citygirl1961 I use Warm Ivory - I wear it all year round (though occasionally switch to their Beautiful Skin BB cream in summer for even lighter coverage). I definitely think that as you get older you need to switch to lighter formulas - you can’t cover lines in the same way you can cover blemishes when you are younger, heavier make up just ends up emphasising them.
