Wonder products that I can buy in boots

Pregnant and looking completely bloody awful. I’m so happy to be pregnant- but I have never looked worse, or disliked my appearance so much in my life.

Here are my current woes-
Hormonal acne on jawline and chin
Blackheads and a crusty dry nose
Downy white hairs all over my face
Broken capillaries all over my face and general redness (where skin isn’t red- it’s yellowish grey)
Dry veiny skin all over my body

Is there any ‘drugstore’ products that I can buy that will make me feel a bit better? Trying to cut down on salon visits and tbh, a facial makes me feel great for the day- then I’m back to normal dowdiness the next day.

Congratulations on being pregnant. Can't suggest anything other than you go and treat yourself to something that makes you feel better even if it is edible or a lipstick.

Flowers

You probably look a lot better than you think

O’Keefes do a very reasonably priced, heavy duty body moisturiser (in a yellow bottle), sold in Boots.

It’s excellent and sorted my dry arms and legs out really quickly.

Congrats on your pregnancy 😊

I've had good results on hormonal skin with la Roche posay effaclar duo+ (check if safe when pregnant- didn't use it when I was pregnant so no idea if it's contraindicated). All of the la Roche posay range is nice tbh.

I'd also get some nice makeup and some bath products/body lotion too- i like soap and glory and sanctuary products so would look at those.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately I do look worse than I have Grin Spending all my money on scans and private progesterone prescriptions so I have cut down on lash lifts, nails and treatments. I’m also trying to hide my bump at work so am wearing tents and just look podgy.

Really hoping I can just sort out the foundations and my skin so I can feel a bit better naturally.

Mascara, some body lotion or cream and a nice body wash are instant pick me ups for me. I especially love a body wash that smells good, you're bound to find something you like.

I second La Roche-Posay, or just as good is Avenue. Both are designed for sensitive skin and it sounds like that's what yours wants as a starting point. Most stuff makes my skin cross so those brands were the holy grail when I discovered them. With in the ranges you can then look for spot stuff or moisturising stuff etc.

I'd buy a nice glowy primer, like the Benefit one in the pink tube. Pore-fessinal brightening. A quick and easy glow. Maybe even their Benetint or Posey tint to add some extra glow. I think you may be able to get these in mini form too in Boots.

Congratulations ! Aveeno moisturiser is good and doesn’t have a scent.
What about buying a hand cream and doing your own nails with a nude / pink colour that doesn’t take much upkeep?
Get a tinted lip balm like burts bees ?
The best mascara is Max Factor every time I try something else it’s never as good!

Can you get a tube of duac from your GP to blitz the acne? Or some zineryt? Either of those will get rid of it for you.

For your nose you need to get 2% salicylic serum .. get creightons from Amazon it’s really low cost. And for night time you need 10% lactic, the ordinary do one for under £10. Use salicylic am and lactic pm.

For redness , and general even - ing of skin tone, can you afford an led
mask? That will definitely help.

As for downy hairs, loads of women shave.

Veiny - ness is part of being pregnant, but dryness is easily remedied. If you like relaxing in the bath, add some Sanex hydrating bath stuff, the amber coloured liquid for dry or atopic skin. It really gets rid of or cuts down on the need for body moisturising.
Boots Sanctuary Spa does tubes of scented body moisture that hydrates the skin for a good amount of time, which is useful for dry shins and elbows etc, and not expensive.

Congratulations on being pregnant , though! Grin

Oh, if it’s a bigger branch of Boots they sell inkey and the ordinary! And boots do salicylic acid serum in their own brand , the little black and white bottles.

My skin was dreadful during my last pregnancy but cleared right up after.

L'Oréal true match serum foundation is good , as is No.7 HydraLuminous.

Bright lippy or nail polish might make you feel a bit better?
