Olaplex help

So I've decided my hair is horrendous and my hairdresser said I should be using olaplex shampoo and conditioner. Has anyone seen any sites with special offers or discounts on? I don't mind buying the bigger bottles if it's going to be more cost effective in the long term. Thank you.

Cult beauty have currently 15% off for first in app orders if you’ve not ordered from their app before ?

I get mine from just my look when they have offers which they often do.

The good thing about the shampoo and conditioner is that you only need a tiny bit of each. I have just started using them and the bottles are going to last for ages. My hair is collarbone length.

steelrose · 11/01/2022 20:11

Try the Trial kit first? My hair needs moisture/hydration and not protein so Olaplex made mine worse.

Omicrone · 11/01/2022 20:12

Space NK also has 15% off for first order at the moment.

I haven't heard great things about the shampoo and conditioner, they are very 'diluted' and apparently don't make much difference. I do use Number 3 and think that is pretty good on my bleached hair so maybe give that a go first?

PleasantBirthday · 11/01/2022 20:15

Can I just say, I haven't found it great. Davines (also on cult beauty) has been far better for my problematic hair.

steelrose · 11/01/2022 20:21

@PleasantBirthday

I'm a big Davines fan too

I would go with No 3 at home. See how you get on with that. You could then get the shampoo and after that the conditioner. I only use No 3 as it is the only one out of them that is suitable for my curly hair regime. I am not a believer that you have to stick with the same brand for hair or beauty products. I get mine from Lookfantastic online.

Agree try the trial kit so you can find what works.

Imo it isn't worth the money. I was very annoyed with it! Hair does feel good initially afterward but it doesn't last. Got better results using L'Oréal leave in conditioner. To be fair though my hair was bleached when i used it 💁‍♀️
I used to use Pureology but fell out with it, now use Redken acid bonding.

Changemaname1 · 11/01/2022 21:50

I used there hair perfecter alot rave about iv had a couple of bottles and Can’t say it’s really done anything , I do recommend noughty to the rescue moisture treatment though :)

Sort0f · 12/01/2022 02:13

I’d only bother with No0 and No3.

Beauty Things has the big bottles of No3 at about 10% off and about 5% No0.

Or set Olaplex as one of your favoured brands on Feelinique. That’ll give you 10% off, plus purchases count towards a £5 reward voucher after £75 spend. They don’t usually have No0 though and it depends whether you have other brands you’d get more from overall as you only get to favourite 2 brands.

Revolution does a knock of product from Superdrug. I love Olaplex but will buy Revolution when my bottle runs out. But are your sure your hairdresser means shampoo and conditioner because olaplex 3 is the product that most people find makes the biggest difference. Or olaplex 2 in salon.

Which products are you using? Can you tell me more? Never heard of this make!

This is the Davines section on cult beauty:

www.cultbeauty.com/hair-care.list?pageNumber=1&facetFilters=en_brand_content:Davines

I use the Love Curl stuff, which is great for my hair but I've also used the Oi range, which was really good as well. However, next I want to try heart of glass, which is new to me, I haven't seen it before...

freeandfierce · 12/01/2022 10:07

Hi, I'm a hairdresser. Olaplex is used to repair internal damage (the bonds in the cortex that give hair elasticity), it won't repair the external part (cuticle). It can dry out hair - my own hair goes like straw! Don't invest in the big bottles until you have tried it out. Consider buying some hair oil, can used used pre and post shampoo and on dry hair. Makes a massive difference to most hair types.

Doesn't work.
WellTidy · 12/01/2022 12:54

I’ve used no. 3 and 0 in the past and found that 0 made no difference. I did really like 3 though, and will buy it again. It’s so pricey, as I would ideally like to start off using it twice a week. It leaves my hair really soft.

My hair is dry and fine.

imnottoofussed · 12/01/2022 13:31

Sorry code should be 40PLUS don't know where the rogue a came from

Sidge · 12/01/2022 13:41

I tried Olaplex on my highlighted, fine hair. I was underwhelmed.

I bought the mini trial kit and am glad I didn't shell out for the full size bottles as I really didn't find it terribly effective.

However I do like the Argan Oil hair stuff I got in my local chemist - heat protector spray and a leave- in oil treatment. They cost a quid each!!

Wondaa · 12/01/2022 13:41

I agree with other posters and say its useful but not mind blowing. I've found Philip Kinsley Elasticizer and Aveda Botanical Repair Leave In Treatment much better to be honest, as well as being more reasonably priced (especially if you by the large bottles of Elasticizer). In fact all of the Philip Kinsley shampoo and conditioners I've tried that are designed for dry hair seem to be great.

FreeButtonBee · 12/01/2022 13:52

I like No 3 and am quite enjoying using the conditioner (I like that it is really thick so it only goes where I put it).

How long is your hair? Cos I've been using the L'Oreal dream lengths 8 second wonder water and it is amazing. Mine is long but quite fine and prone to tangling and bit of frizz at the highlighted ends. This stuff is a fiver a bottle, put it on after shampoo, leave for 20-30 seconds and then rinse out. You can feel how much smoother your hair is. It doesn't last beyond a wash or two but I am addicted and I don't need to wash my hair nearly as much as normal as it is smooth and soft. Just in case you want to try something cheaper. I actually haven't bothered using No3 since I got this as it's much easier and I am more likely to actually use it.

😁 That works. You just cost me a fortune ....... 👀
steelrose · 12/01/2022 19:07

@bigbeachedwales

From Davines, I use Melu shampoo and conditioner and curl building serum. I've also had a sample of OI milk and OI oil which are lovely. My hairdresser uses it and gives out samples, last time I was there she put the most amazing mask on my bleached, frizzy, frazzled hair and it actually looked shiny and healthy, but I forgot to ask what it was. I will next time though.
