yes i'm a name changer before you all ask bit about all of this!

previously it's been trimmed up but natural iycwim, but am pondering the waxing thing - was is the differnce between them all? does it really hurt?

not had the guts to try waxing but I use veet, which works really well

helpmesorttheladygarden · 24/12/2007 14:13

can you do that one at home?

what's the brazillian, hollywood and vegas all about?

I really want to try it but am worried how much it will hurt! Is it best to trim up before hand. what about the ahem just inside bits will they get waxed as well

helpmesorttheladygarden · 24/12/2007 15:31

someone must have some ideas?

Used to get mine done - nothing fancy, just basic bikini line. I would pre-trim and take a paracetamol before I went. Don't go when your period is due, it's much more painful. Now I'm 40wks pregnant, god knows what's going on down there, I can't see over the bump horizon.

helpmesorttheladygarden · 24/12/2007 15:35

lol. when I was pg I hacked at mine as I didn't trust DH to do it wasn't till after I thought OMG what a state!

it says prices from for the bikini - does it depend on how much there is as to the cost? [bluah]

Think it depends if you want Brazilian etc. Can't remember what I used to pay, I'd usually get my legs done at the same time. Friend had Brazilian done once, said it was weird, the flesh down there was a bit puffy. Not a great recommendation.

lou33 · 24/12/2007 15:46

i shave

missingtheaction · 24/12/2007 16:03

Brazilian is just a straingt strip left down the middle - i think it looks really wierd. Hollywood I think is all gone (also known as Bald Eagle if I remember rightly). Vegas no idea.

Used to have a straightforward tidy up bikini line wax but couldn't bear the pain! can't imagine what a brazilian would be like - i think they do everything, and right round the back too...

Venus and nice shaving foam has to do for me (or him, as it's for his benefit really)

helpmesorttheladygarden · 24/12/2007 18:39

god now you lot are really putting me off! lol.

I normally trim/shave - but it goes itchy when growing back

what do you do about the back - leave it?

OP posts:
lou33 · 24/12/2007 19:03

i dont notice any itchiness now, but then i have been doing it for years

Blondilocks · 27/12/2007 22:35

Hollywood. It stings more than hurts & it last much longer than shaving & the regrowth isn't itchy & is much softer.

Only thing is that it was £35 where I went. The lady that did mine said you could pretty much choose how much you wanted off & they'd do it.

Pannacotta · 27/12/2007 22:47

I just have a standard (high) bikini line where they do the sides at the front and inner thighs but not too far in.
Any more and it would be a bit too much like having an internal examination for my liking - also much too painful!

fakeblonde · 27/12/2007 22:58

Veet in shower hair removal cream - slap it on for 4 mins liberally to whatever shape i fancy-usually pretty high(dh calls it my landing strip ! ) as i swim loads and cant stand the thought of pubes poking out of my swimmy !
Rinse off and apply soothing balm.
I have tried everything over the years and this for me is by far the best-works really well,no itching,no rash, quick and lasts a good couple of weeks-and cheap too !

JustMissyNow · 27/12/2007 23:06

i shave and trim being trained as a hairdresser has its perks. lol

am considering veet now!

too much of a wimp for waxing

MummyPenguin · 28/12/2007 19:46

Having just read the OP:

I just attack it with the hairdressing scissors.

MummyPenguin · 28/12/2007 19:49

I could never ever go for a Brazillian or any sort of lady garden waxing, I'd be far too embarrassed.

WeWhizzzYouAMerryXmas · 28/12/2007 19:53

how about one of these?

MummyPenguin · 28/12/2007 19:54

D'ya know, at times I could put that to good use on mine.

dinny · 28/12/2007 20:00

having a Brazilian is not for the easily embarrassed as you have to help hold your bits and go on all fours too

SleepInHeavenlyPlease · 28/12/2007 20:10

what is soothing balm? where do you get it from?

dinny · 28/12/2007 20:11

my beautician friend swears by lots of Savlon after waxing

chocolateshoes · 28/12/2007 20:14

i have a straightforward bikini wax - not too embarrassing and certainly no more painful than having your legs waxed

dinny · 28/12/2007 20:30

found it less painful than legs, personally

er, hasten to add am not Brazilian fan - have good friend who does them, hence the inside knowledge!

Pannacotta · 28/12/2007 20:36

Do you really have to go on all fours to have a brazilian?
That sounds even less dignified than giving birth

BitTiredNow · 28/12/2007 20:36

I have normal ones - smarts a bit, but I lie back and think of anything else at all ( a complete cinch after childbirth). It helps if you stretch the skin with your hands for the inside the thigh bit. Unlike legs, it never gets any less painful for me, but it looks good after the first day, when I get a v unsexy red rash. Whn I was pg dh got quite good at pubic topiary - vv sensual actually - would recommend
