Two handbags at once- le Pliage with another bag?

First world problem. I know some women use a handbag AND a Le Pliage.

Is this on ok thing to do? :)

I have a couple of nice bags (Coach across the body/satchels) but they are too small for a bottle of water and a kindle etc.

Occasionally if I'm out for the day I need another bag for bits- and I usually just take some old carrier bag. So I feel like a bag lady.

I was thinking about getting the smallest Pliage with the short strap, to use as a 2nd bag in place of a carrier bag.

I use a medium with short handles for exactly this. Small wouldn’t be big enough for a carrier bag IMO. Short handles allows you to carry it by hand or in the crook of your arm and not end up with the double handbag look.

I’d buy a bigger bag so I didn’t have to carry two. I’d definitely assume I’d leave one behind somewhere.

I dont like big bags. I already have a dropped shoulder (that's my body not a bag!) from wearing a shoulder bag for years.

I don't like being weighed down with a bag.

I did this yesterday, while out shopping. Wore a crossbody Enny (old but amazing quality Italian bag) with a handheld Pliage for overspill. I thought it looked ok. Then I over complicated the handbag situation by buying a wonderful Sezane bag in a charity shop and had to spend a bit of time in a cafe consolidating my luggage!

In short, OP, I think it’s great to do what you suggest.

I'll have a think! :)

I already have the medium shoulder bag which I've used for ever but I don't like carrying a heavy shoulder bag.

I have a crosssbody bag for work and pilage in my hand. It works for me as a laptop in a big shoulder bag would be uncomfortable for me.

If your small bag is an over the shoulder or a crossbody bag, I would go for a Le Pliage with a short handle.
If your small bag has small handles, then go for long handles on your Le Pliage and put it on your shoulder.
My large ling handled Le Pliage is my most used bag: I often carry it in addition to a smart handbag or I put a clutch in it. It’s so lightweight and sturdy! Look online you can buy a sturdy flat base so that it keeps it’s shape.

If you have a dropped shoulder OP would you consider a backpack? Or is that not your style?
On the train recently I saw a lot of people with a large backpack and a small Bumbag or waist bag worn high across their chest like a sling bag- would that be more comfy?

To be honest I always feel like it’s PE day at school when I have to carry more than one bag. I don’t think it’s a particularly elegant look. Can’t you just put everything in the le pliage?

What happened to the company that made Enny bags ? Did they go bust ? I don't see them in shops anymore. My Mum has a few.

Enny went bust in about 2004. I read that they couldn’t compete with cheaper imports, companies whose stock was made where labour was cheaper, Enny’s bags all being made in Italy.

There was a burst of them in TKMaxx about that time.

Since then they’ve not been produced but there is a thriving secondhand market on eBay (and other selling sites probably but I’m most familiar with eBay).

They were so well made that they last 30 or 40 years if well looked after. At their peak in the 1980s the organiser bag with all the pockets was very popular. They were expensive then and many of them would be tucked away “for best”. It means there are some cracking bargains as so many are barely used. Also they’ve stood the test of time because they’re mostly plain and understated. Excellent leather and workmanship.

I am a bit of a fan and I have many!
