Face shape- can anyone help me figure this out?

Okay, I know this is a bit weird, but I'm getting a haircut next week and wanted to look at what might suit me. I've never been able to work out what my face shape is, possibly because I hate looking at it for any length of time. Not very clear from the photo, but I have these odd jowly shapes either side of my jaw which doesn't help. Sad

Trying to spruce myself up a bit this year so want to start wearing nice earrings- which, again, I need to figure out the right style for. Any help gratefully received- thanks in advance!

I think its called diamond.

Thanks, @5128gap - I will take a look at that..! Grin

My OH thinks my face is 'squoval', which is apparently a thing. Diamond faces supposedly have pointy chins but I feel like mine is wide. (And freakishly jowly.)

Gah.

Looks fairly oval but maybe also slightly long? Try some different styles using pins etc and see where it suits you best to add width or height. I would suggest adding width at the cheekbone type level would be a good idea. (It’s hard to tell though and having hair that you like and suits your life is more important imo)

Blackmagicqueen · 07/01/2022 16:04

I would say square jaw, def not diamond

I think that you might be right. It's so confusing because when you see examples on various websites there's so much variation & folk look v. different. And are usually really good looking which then confuses me more somehow.. Grin

Stand in front of the mirror and with an eyeliner draw around your reflection on the mirror. That will give you a good idea of your face shape.

Stroopwaffle5000 · 07/01/2022 17:49

You have a similar shape face to me and mine is square.

Lucked · 07/01/2022 17:52

I don’t know but the periphery of your face is very pretty!

Thank you... currently it's a sort of grown out 'vintagey' bob, but it's sort of fine, wavy and frizzy, particularly at the front, so that limits what can be done with it, and the fringe looks rubbish unless I dry it straight.

I like the cut below, but I think you need thick/straight/dark hair for it to work...

That would seem to be the consensus, then. Thank you!

Definitely squate

EllaPaella · 07/01/2022 23:38

Square!

Smurftastic · 08/01/2022 05:44

I'd actually call it a rectangle, as it seems longer than a square. I wouldn't say you have 'jowly bits' at all! I think the haircut you attached would really suit you providing you can style it that way. I don't think you need dark hair for it either, I imagine any colour would work.

Rangoon · 08/01/2022 06:21

I'm with square/rectangle - I'm square/rectangle (ie I have a square jaw and long face) too and my hair looks better off my face. Not necessarily up but clipped back or maybe a hairband. I never pile hair on top of my head as I look impossibly long faced. Look at old pictures of Grace Kelly - she had that square jaw too and her hair was always off her face and in a fairly simple style.

cloudtree · 08/01/2022 06:40

Square.
