How to get handles replaced on Coach bag?

I have a much loved 4 year old Coach Edie bag which I bought heavily discounted in the sales. I normally trash my bags within a year but this one has worn really well....except for the handles which are fraying at the edges.
In the spirit of environmental friendliness, I'd like to replace the handles. Does anyone have any good tips on how to go about it?

It's a niche colour, so I'd need to go for a contrasting/toning handle but I'm not bothered about that.

They look like this, so would need professional fitting if I wanted a like for like match, but I'd be open to a book quality DIY alternative that I could fit myself.

Coach used to offer a "lifetime" guarantee. All my Coach bags had numbers stamped on them. Sadly when I once needed to take them up on their "lifetime" guarantee it funnily enough didnt mean lifetime - it was some wierdly short length of time. I no longer buy Coach.

Yes the warranty is now one year only. They do do repairs but they're very cagy about price and it takes 2 weeks for them to quote for the price, and 4-6 weeks to do the repair, so I feel there should be a better option.
There's meant to be a place in South Ken which does repairs but again I have no idea about price - I only paid £150 quid for the bag.

Its quite hard to see what's going on there close up, but I assume you mean the connectors are fine, just the handles are frayed.

So the options are - quick but not so pretty fix - buy some new handles with lobster clasps/clips attached - cut off the old handles, and clip them on. Not necessarily as easy as all that, as you need to make sure the clasps fit around the hardware, and they won't look great as that hardware they are attached to seems to be a rectangle, so the clasps won't sit correctly in the centre (what I'm talking about is something like the first pic which is what came up in google when I typed in 'leather straps with lobster clasps'

The neater alternative is to cut off the original straps, and replace with leather strapping. To do this you need the means to sew the straps back on (a domestic machine might cope with thin leather or vinyl) - or you need to use rivets to hold the strap in place. Rivets (double capped - so neat on each side) would be the best option but they are tricky if you don't have a rivet press. It can be done at home though.

To avoid paying lots, you can hunt for a second hand bag with decent straps and use this which would be way cheaper than buying strapping.

You could search for a local bagmaker on a craft site (Etsy for instance) and ask them if they would consider repairing it for you if you don't want the hassle.

Obviously we can't see details of the damage but if it's just wear and tear to the surface leather I'd try a cobbler to be honest, replacing the leather would be unlikely to present a problem for them and likely cheaper than going down 'designer bag repair' routes.

I'd take it to a couple to get prices for the repair and weigh up the cost vs what I paid or vs a new bag (can you get it in the sale now for example) and go from there.
