Facial mole removal for teens

My dd has a few small moles on her face which real affects her self confidence. The moles are only 1-2mm but she has several. Just wonder how common is it for teenagers to have facial moles removed for cosmetic reasons?

Ps. Please don’t tell me to tell her to think differently.

Just replied on the other thread. I used this clinic and was delighted with the result. Lots of information on the website about the procedure so worth a look and you may find another clinic nearer to you. I don't work for them or anything!

Thanks vjg

Was it a laser treatment and did it leave any scar/s? Obviously you re happy with the results.

Yes, by laser and minimal scar compared with a surgical excision. I did strictly follow the aftercare routine.

I had a facial mole, and didn’t get it removed till I was in my twenties. I wish my parents had supported me to do it when I was much younger, mine was a surgical incision but the scar is incredibly minimal - I’m not sure anyone even notices it.

If she wants to get it done she should absolutely, it made me feel so much better about myself.

I don’t think she can get it done until 18 yo.

@ vjd was / were yours very small?

@ audweb how big was your mole?

How long did the recovery take?

I have a friend who had a large facial mole removed when we were in Y8. It really affected her confidence. She didn’t have any scarring and healed up well; although it’d mostly grown back by Y10. I don’t know how common that is! She mostly learned to live with it after that.

I think it may be worth an initial consultation depending on how old and how mature she is. The injections to numb it were a bit stingy but the rest was ok. They put a dressing on for the first 24hours and then it looked like a grazed area of skin. I think it took about 2 weeks but kept shrinking in size. I had one larger and 2 smaller. The smaller one has left no scar, one of the others is slightly raised but better than before I had it done. You need to use a good SPF after it has healed.

@TYFP Maybe it depends the types of moles. Whether it s a birth mark or something caused by uv for example?

I had a laser removal at Zenith Cosmetic clinics for a flat mole on my face. Has left zero scar, really pleased. It’s about £400 for the first one and then subsequent moles in the same session are about £100

@pinkmink how long ago was it? It s good value!

It was probably 4 years ago. The doctor was Dr Maini. My only regret is not doing more moles. I went to the clinic prepared for a hard sell, expecting he’d try to get me to remove all 10 moles on my face. I like most them and only wanted to remove 4.

Instead, he was very cautious and warned me about the risk of scarring - which threw me! I only ended up removing 1. He’s a professional, not a salesperson. The risk of scarring is low but he makes sure you understand it.

Thanks ladies, couldn’t get back to mumsnet for a few day.
Have any of your removed moles grown back over the years?
