Collagen supplement

Has anyone really done their research and able to tell me the best collagen supplement (in terms of value and absorption/conversion etc)?. I'm aware of many companies selling collagen sachets but wondering of the price is because of the branding rather than superiority?!

You really shouldn't make all those statements without backing them up
What do you want? A statement from my hairdresser Grin. The thing is there are countless studies and articles online about collagen and its benefits. I have not found a single one that has proven that taking collagen has no benefit at all. And you did say 'proven'. I dont think that research exists. Many people have found taking collagen beneficial. It may (and yes I use the word may) help people with joint problems or weak hair and nails. It is not fair to come on and state it has been proven not to work when that's not true.

In answer to your original question OP, I use Wellgard Gold Standard Pure Collagen Hydrolysate Powder

Well you wanted more information from my dermatologist and links of research I found. Maybe you should ask you relative what information this oncologist gave on why collagen works and why they recommend it. You have come on stating it does work. Why is that fair for you and not acceptable for me to have a say?

Thanks, I'm currently taking tablets from Amazon however see a lot about graded Collagen and Collagen Jelly which is usually more expensive than what I am paying and its making me doubt myself that I need a 'superior' Collagen! I'm in it for the long haul and take it with Hair, Skin and Nails vits aswell as a Dermatica routine so hoping for a cumulative effect over time.

It won’t make any difference at menopause, you’ll lose 30% of your collagen & you can’t replace it.

It’s better to preserve what you have with sunblock, tretonoin and led red light, no sugar, no alcohol, no sunbathing, no cigarettes, a diet high in antioxidants and regular exercise.

Your kidneys excrete all excess protein, you can’t store it like sugar or fat.

Can you recommend an led red light to purchase? I have looked but some are really expensive. Do you need to spend a lot of money for a good one?

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/01/2022 15:24

I use a beauty star one but mines old style, it was £50. I look better the next morning after using it.

Science has moved on though so you’d need to research. Mine has no neck attachment but lots do now.

I am sceptical, can't see how it can work. But.... I was given some ancient and brave collagen powder (the one Davina uses) and since using it I have to cut my finger nails every week, so it is definitely doing something! Whether it is having any impact beyond that I couldn't say.

From what I've read the powder is far superior to the capsules, they just can't deliver the amount of collagen that the powder can. I have 2 tablespoons in my coffee in the morning and it's tasteless.
SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 05/01/2022 17:53

I take this one

My personal experience is that it makes a difference to my skin luminosity and general youthfulness. I love it.

Wagsandclaws · 05/01/2022 18:12

I took that well known on social media colleges supplement'absolute collagen' tasted like fish ( obvs ) and did absolutely nothing.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 05/01/2022 21:55

I use the Wellguard one too and it helps my achey knees. I used to use inner beauty liquid from cult beauty and that was helpful too but this is cheaper Grin not sure if it does anything for my face or hair but I’ll gladly take the benefit to my knees

Gwenhwyfar · 06/01/2022 12:04

@Theblacksheepandme

It's been scientifically proven that taking collagen orally does not work.
I'm not convinced this is true.
Theblacksheepandme · 06/01/2022 12:56

Gwenhwyfar
Fair enough.

Mumsnut · 06/01/2022 13:02

My knees are so achy! Anyone else see a benefit from collagen? My skin is past praying for but to be able to climb the stairs without thinking about it would be wonderful...

It depends what's causing it but collagen plus glucosamine sulfate has really helped with my osteoarthritis in my feet and ankles.
Gwenhwyfar · 06/01/2022 13:54

@Theblacksheepandme

Gwenhwyfar Fair enough.
I'm not convinced there's a benefit either. I'm open minded. Still taking mine, not sure I can see a benefit, but that's the same for any health food - I don't see an instant benefit.
Mumsnut · 06/01/2022 15:23

Thanks VGDog. Do you mind saying which products you use?

VanGoghsDog · 06/01/2022 15:32

These currently, from iHerb.
