Do you still wear proper bras, such as underwired, for work?

I think I've only worn a real bra as opposed to a stretchy crop bralette thingy whenever I've been working from home the last six months at least. Is it that bad to give up on the traditional bra? in terms of what going without normal support is meant to do for our breasts?

No.
I wear primark sports bras. They're useless for sport but so snug and cosy for day to day wear.

@WreckTangled may I ask what size bras you buy from CK?

ClemDanFango · 03/01/2022 19:36

I have to wear them or I will trip over my tits.

I'm 34gg and have started wearing the TU Sainsburys support non-ones. Even though the ones I was wearing before were properly fitted, I'd still get red marks on my shoulders and set m boobs. I wore an underwires bra on Christmas Day and it was agony!

I'm now in my first trimester and have found the non wired ones to be more forgiving (have put on a cup size already). I can't see myself going back to wired ever again, really, unless I'm in a formal setting.

I never found a wired bra that's comfortable for me.
wireless from triumph for every day. crop top style for slouching. and pull-over style for running.

I love the flexifit by m and s - but I’ve also had a really good support one from Asda luckily bought three at the time when I realised how good they were but I’ve never seen them since. You have to ensure a tight fit on the rib cage so it gives good support. I’m a DD.

abra1d1 · 03/01/2022 19:58

I wear wired bras all the time unless I’m in bed. I like having a supported shape. It’s more flattering.

OrangeSyringe · 03/01/2022 19:59

Thanks Wreck, I need something non wired for my DD who is a similar size to you and CK is acceptable. :)

I think there's some on sale at ASOS at the moment. Probably on sale lots of places Grin

Same as this, but I also find them more comfortable than going without one or wearing a non supportive one.

I wear Fantasie, not sure of the exact type offhand.

I’m 36H, I haven’t found a crop top/stretchy bra yet that would give me enough support. I still wear underwired bras all the time. I don’t find them uncomfortable though, on the contrary, I feel good support helps me keep better posture and just makes me feel more comfortable.

JaceLancs · 03/01/2022 20:40

Never stopped wearing wired bras
I have gone up to a 36G from a 34G due to lockdown weight gain though
I hate not wearing a bra - in the height of summer in a hot country I will wear a lightweight non wired bra under a sundress but that’s it

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/01/2022 20:42

I'm 30HH, I always wear underwired bras (except in bed)

gogohm · 03/01/2022 20:49

I wear one every day, even if I don't go out, it's far more comfortable than going without

MistySkiesAfterRain · 03/01/2022 23:27

I tried a croptop and have gone back to bras for several reasons. I don't love the monoboob effect of croptops. I've also lost weight through swimming and the croptop is making me look more flat. I'd prefer to define and if what I have (38B). In the summer I get very hot when the boobs are pushing together whereas a bra separates them. I also was fearing I was creating more wrinkles with a croptop that pushed them together, that may be rubbish though. I'm going to try and find some nice fitting bras though, not just Primark.

StarlightLady · 04/01/2022 07:55

I’m a 36F, a well fitting underwired bra should not be uncomfortable, quite the opposite. Panache Tango in particular suit me and comes in a range of colours (I don’t do white or beige), but we are all different.

When not at work, l go sans bra on a hot summer’s day, not because my bra is uncomfy but because the tightness of the band makes me even hotter. You can expect the odd comment from men who are still children though! But it’s my body! I think the childish man will always be with us and it goes beyond bras! With apologies to the more sensible males amongst us.

The bra evolved in history from a cut down corset. I often wonder what attitudes would be if it had only just been introduced to us and bra free was hitherto the norm.

As for knowing whether regular non wearing causes any long lasting issues, you need someone with different qualifications to me.

RosesAndHellebores · 04/01/2022 08:02

Always wear an underwired bra. I have two styles that fit me: triumph amourette and M&S wild bloom. Never been uncomfortable except in a stretchy crop thingy which didn't provide support but it was a case of needs must for aboutca month. Never was I so relieved as to be able to do up my proper bras again.
