Lost my way with fashion - are these boots and trainers hideous or cool? Or neither!

I know cool is very individual but I'm interested in the majority vote. I'm short, pear shaped but slim, and live in jeans and jumpers. Skinny jeans, shock horror, which I know aren't fashionable anymore but nothing else seems to suit me.
I'm looking to shake up my wardrobe a bit but I have hip bursitis and am prone to sciatica (started when I was pregnant and has never quite gone away) so I struggle with a lot of footwear. I've found Vionics to be brilliant in the past but they're not the most stylish....I quite like these styles but I don't know if I've completely lost my way and they are in fact hideous:

I seem to live in sweaty betty leggings lately as they're so comfy, and I figured these would work with them for the park etc.

Kind of love these ^ but have no idea what I'd wear them with and whether they'd make my already short legs look short.

Basically, I'm trying to get a bit of a style I feel confident and put together in and am groping around in the dark Grin

i would wear vionics - I'm 60 but if I was younger I wouldn't wear them. They are a bit mumsy in real life.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2022 16:32

I don't much like either of them, sorry. The trainers are slightly better than the boots imo. I think you could find nicer.

dancelikeyoudontgiveafuck · 01/01/2022 16:32

Thanks shehas I'm late 30s! Grin I do fear I'm veering into mumsy territory. I don't think I'll ever be cool I just want to feel a bit put together.

The trainers are completely inoffensive / anonymous, i wouldn't personally pay £100 for something so neutral but can understand why you would if you have foot problems

I'm not keen on the boots but that is mainly because I know I wouldn't be capable of keeping the soles white so they would end up looking very mucky/scruffy!

Xmasiscancelledagain · 01/01/2022 16:34

There is no point looking cool if you're in agony OP. If you like them, then crack on.

FWIW, they're not to my taste. But I am far from cool. I very much dress for what I like and am comfortable in.

Keepitonthedownlow · 01/01/2022 16:34

They look fine to me. I'm early 40s.

dancelikeyoudontgiveafuck · 01/01/2022 16:34

I'd probably go for the black and white trainers so less neutral, as I have a lot of the SB black leggings, but I seem to be drawn towards an increasingly random collection of things so never seem to have a wardrobe that works together.

Neither are great but I think you could get away with the boots depending on what you wear with them. Afraid I do think the trainers look a bit chic granny.

Amelion · 01/01/2022 16:43

Neither are great. I think you could do better. But if it’s the most comfortable option, they’re also plain enough to go unnoticed.

ParkheadParadise · 01/01/2022 16:48

I wouldn't wear the trainers.
I would wear the boots around the house or in the car 😂😂

GettingStuffed · 01/01/2022 16:56

I must be a church granny because I really like the trainers but think the boots are horrid.. I know how horrid the pain of hip bursitis is as a result of an unstable hip .Don't think about looks anything that doesn't make the pain worse is a win, I found a low platform was best. I've had steroid injections to treat my bursitis, it's like magic, very painful magic though.

TheHoptimist · 01/01/2022 17:08

If you want to be fashionable then both are a big miss

The boots could be stylish depending on what you wore them with
Sweaty Betty will never be fashionable or stylish anywhere other than at the gym whilst working out

ParkheadParadise · 01/01/2022 17:08

Now I'm getting Adverts for the boots and trainers 😂
No thank you.

dancelikeyoudontgiveafuck · 01/01/2022 18:59

To be fair, cool was probably the wrong word - I think cool is innate and you either are or you aren't. But I would like to feel less frumpy and just look a bit more put together - it doesn't even need to be stylish really, just not frumpy or scruffy. Maybe I need to start a new thread asking for general help putting together a new wardrobe (which is what I'm trying to do, I'm having a bit of a cull and being pretty brutal, I just don't know what to replace everything with!)

I have hip bursitis and spinal stenosis. I am ordering these if they will help.I feel like I will be in a wheelchair if I don’t sort these issues out. I don’t think people understand just how much these things hurt.
I also think they are way cooler than my Blundstones.
