Coat dilemma (/ wine fuelled decision making)

If you lived in the depths of the country, with messy children and muddy dogs (but did occasionally do nice things and go to work meetings where dressing in something other than wellies and a Barbour jacket was appropriate), and on average bought yourself a new wool coat appropriately once every 10 years, would you buy this one in sand or navy Grin?! www.sezane.com/en/product/johnson-coat/navy#size-10

Right, I am going for it. Sand. It really is for “good”, I have many slightly scruffy everyday coats (that go in the washing machine).

And navy too if any sort of lockdown puts paid to the theatre trip away that DH and I have booked next weekend!!!

Sand because navy is a bit boring
Caveat I am doing what you asked and drinking wi be while choosing

SirVixofVixHall · 30/12/2021 20:36

What colour are your eyes OP ?
I am also very, very pale with light brown hair and that burgundy would be the best on me.

UsernameInTheTown · 30/12/2021 20:50

Will there be a sale, allowing you to buy both?

HelpWithWhereToStart · 31/12/2021 13:58

I don’t think this will end up in the sale (didn’t last year), but they do have one starting next week so am keeping a look out. Have woken up and in the cold light of day (and after a very muddy dog walk) am wondering if navy might have been a more practical choice 😄.

SirVix, I have greeny-grey eyes. Some burgundies are nice on me but some not, and it’s hard to tell with this one. I don’t view it as a safe colour for me, the wrong shade and I looked a bit washed out.

Navy, the sand will. Get grubby quickly

Sooverthemill · 31/12/2021 15:16

Navy. It's a fabulous coat and I've seen it on a few people. It's possible that an old colourway may be on the archives/ sale from 8.30 this coming Sunday. Go for it anyway it's fab

Seniorandjunior · 31/12/2021 15:53

Navy. For sure.

I have the stripey jumper underneath the coat. If I had the model's insouciance I would buy that coat and be just like her....Grin

I bought this coat and returned it. It looks really cheap in the flesh I’m afraid - it’s only 80% wool and the nylon content gives it a slightly chain store appearance. The grey tweed is pure wool but emphasised the grey in my skin.

The quality of Sezane clothes is so variable I’m slightly over it. Lots of their stuff is comparable to Zara at five times the price.

ToooOldForThis · 31/12/2021 16:05

I've just had the same debate over a much cheaper coat, navy v very light grey, and have decided against practical navy as it's not meant to be a practical coat! It's a good coat!

HideRanger · 31/12/2021 16:09

Have you looked in Massimo Dutti? They do pure wool coats that are much cheaper. They do skimp on the quality of the buttons (cheap plastic or those stupid poppers) but it’s nothing a packet of replacement buttons and a good drycleaner can’t sort out.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 31/12/2021 16:30

I'd go navy.

But, I know from bitter experience that I just don't wear pale coats. Bought a beautiful trench from Cos last year and ended up selling it on Vinted as I never wore it.

I like clothes in pale colours, so I'm honestly not sure why this is!
