Running tights/leggings

Please help me!
I am after some running tights which are high waisted, reflective , with a pocket and not thermal!
Preferably plain coloured/black/not garish patterned. All the Lucy Locket/Tikiboo stuff is not really my style.

Decathlon? The sizes come up quite small so I usually get next size up.

eurochick · 29/12/2021 13:50

Ronhill, every time.

foxychox · 29/12/2021 14:06

M&S good move are great, stay up and have lots of pockets. They feel a lot more expensive than they are....

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/12/2021 16:37

I’m familiar with all those bravsX and have some Decathlon and M&S Good Move. The problem I’m having is finding anything with a decent amount of reflective embellishments that’s not also thermal.

Asics do a wide range
One of my pairs from New Balance have both thigh pockets and a back zip up pocket.
DHB are also good.
Ronhill as mentioned.

Dirtystreetpie · 29/12/2021 16:39

Second ronhill

randomsabreuse · 29/12/2021 16:43

I think Sweaty Betty have a reflective Power/Zero Gravity design.

Gymshark Speed is worth a look but I wouldn't recommend them if you have thighs that rub when you run, they're nowhere near as durable as the Powers for me.

Under Armour and Proviz might well be worth a look too.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads Have you tried Proviz for their reflective leggings?

No idea about fit, but when I returned a T-shirt that was too big, the refund took 3 weeks.

I was reading reviews of the SB’s earlier, but they said the reflective stuff came off in the first wash!

Ah, thanks @xsquared. I bought a Proviz jacket years ago, but the fit/styling and finish was so awful I’ve never looked at them again! I will do so now.

You're welcome.

If your main concern is being seen, have you thought about wearing a reflective harness instead?

I got mine from BTR Sports and I have been using it on my early morning runs as well as evening runs.

It's reasonably comfortable and doesn't distract you from your run. It has adjustable buckles, but being size 8 and only 5'2" however, I returned the adult sized harness for the child sized one and it's a much better fit.

lobsteroll · 29/12/2021 17:19

I second the sweaty Betty power leggings. I think the reflective lasts a lot longer if you turn inside out to wash and wash on cold temp.

Onlylonelymonster · 29/12/2021 17:26

Pocket Sport leggings are my go to and I've tried them all. Super comfortable, high waisted that never fall down no matter what and classy. they are pricy but you get what you pay for. They don't do reflective but I always wear a band. Have look they are amazing.

MoltonSilver · 29/12/2021 17:28

Lululemon. Although not many styles have pockets. Some have a reflective band inside the hem that you just turn to the outside whenever you want it showing.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/12/2021 19:37

@xsquared, I always wear a hi viz mesh bib, but I’ve noticed (as a driver), that tge tree is a section of road that I run along where trees overhang the pavement and the top halves of pedestrians/runners are not very visible. As I mostly run that route in the evenings, I thought I’d brighten up my legs!

Most running kit manufacturers seem to equate reflective = winter = cold, and only put reflective bits on warm tights. I really don’t feel the cold much and get much too hot in brushed/fleece tights.

Anyway, I have found some Ron Hills that look to fit the bill, and a high viz yellow top.

I've has ones from Decathlon with a hi viz pattern, and they were good performance and the hi viz survived the wash

Ronhill is very good too, and their reflective stuff is excellent. I haven't had a pair of their Night Runner tights myself, but I'd expect them to be good.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/12/2021 20:36

@AuntieStella, I have some madly reflective tights from Decathlon, but they are just too warm. It has to be subzero for me to even wear full length tights. That skin cream looks brilliant though!

I’ve had Ron Hills in the past, I even climbed in Tracksters in the 1980s!! Feeling rather nostagic about getting some RH’s again.

Swearwolf · 29/12/2021 21:19

I have those Sweaty Betty ones, the reflective stuff is fine! I bet the people who had a problem put them in the tumble dryer, which you're not supposed to do. It's not hyper reflective like proviz or the like, but they are great leggings and stay up really well.
