Do all chelsea boots look rubbish after a year?

I'm looking at investing in some nice chelsea boots for work.

I have an old brown pointed pair that have a natural rustic look so where they have creased at the ankle it doesn't really matter. I also have a black Warehouse pair which are the uncomfiest in history, as the ankle is quite baggy (does plantar fascitis no favours!), but because the ankle is loose they haven't creased as much.

I looked on Ebay at the Russell and Bromley pair I am looking at and found them for half the price but they look a bit too creased, or is it just me being super fussy?

Boots get better and better as they look more battered IMO. I like them all creased.

I think you may be right. I do kind of agree, but I think its better if its your creases if that makes sense. The Ebay boots are my size and exactly the same boots on the website for £110 less, but the only thing stopping me is that they are a bit creased. I think the wearing in part is important as they get worn to the shape of your foot. But I'd really like to spend less on new boots. I found a Vagabond pair for less so am going to have a think. Thanks.

No. My Sainsburys Chelsea boots are several years old (about 6 or 7 I think), and still look as good as new when they have been cleaned and polished. If a pair of boots look tatty after a year either the wearer is very hard on their footwear or the quality was very poor in the first place.

Using a shoe tree helps shoes/boots keep their shape. I probably wouldn't buy those, OP. Buy new on sale and take care of them.

I have a black pair, nice padded insole, good tread good quality leather that has not creased but they are 7 years old worn a lot, but get polished and waterproofed spray from time to time.

From Tescos of all places in the sale for £10!

I have lots of boots/shoes and do buy a mix of brands (inc R&B in the past) but these would take a lot of beating. Those ones on Ebay I would not purchase myself really as I would not wear used boots. I would keep looking.

If you have plantar fascitis, I'd recommend you wear shoes or boots that lace up.

My schuh Chelsea boots are 3 years old and still look great

TrashyPanda · 29/12/2021 09:51

My Dr Martens look split new.

They are expensive, but worth every penny.

I gave up on DMs years ago. My chelsea boots are these. DM looks but much better quality and they do from size 3 upwards including half-sizes.

uggmum · 29/12/2021 09:58

I have some Ugg Chelsea boots. They are wearing really well.
They are a nubuck leather though so look a bit aged anyway.

But they have not creased at all

Chrispackhamspoodle · 02/01/2022 16:21

My doc marten Chelsea boots still look brand new 3 years on, after lots and lots of wear.

tillyandmilly · 02/01/2022 16:54

Dr martens - supermarket brands have horrible thin inner soles - I had a pair from
Tescos but they hurt the undersoles of my feet and creased after one day of wearing - if you can afford go for the dr martens!
