Skin care for an absolute beginner

I know this is an often discussed topic but can anyone advise me where to start / what will have the biggest impact on my skin ?

I often read other threads and find myself down a rabbit hole of products that makes me feel overwhelmed.

Currently I use make up remover wipes and that's about the extent of my routine !
I had some allergic reactions a few years ago to using boots protect and perfect so since then I have only used a la Roche posay moisturiser / sunblock.

Where do I start ? I am middle aged with dry skin, increasingly wrinkly and would love to feel a bit more radiant and less grey .
Thanks for any ideas !

What sort of price point?

Midlifemission · 28/12/2021 19:22

Such a good question as I think one thing that holds me back is fear that I might start on a very expensive path !
I have looked at Victoria's health before and the prices seemed ok - but I guess it depends what number of products are needed .
Just recently ordered a new cleanser from Glossier but that's nothing special .
If it helps I have Laura Mercier, Nars , Bobbi brown type make up products so am very happy with those sorts of prices .
I have been given Elemis and eve lom cleanser before and was just absolutely rubbish at finding the energy at bedtime !

Please stop using make up remover wipes! So bad for the environment! A good cleanser, toner and moisturiser is a good place to start and doesn't need to be expensive. I'm 34 and use Garnier Rose cleanser (take it off with a wet flannel) and toner. Then a vitamin C serum for the day, and a salicylic acid one on a night. Then a Clean and Clear moisturiser for the day, and a Olay one on a night. I do use more expensive stuff sometimes but a cleanser doesn't need to be expensive. If you have money to spend, put it on a serum and moisturiser.

Have a look at the cheat sheets linked at the top of the skincare thread. They're really good.
