I need a low maintenance, high street cost make up routine, please!

So I'm attempting a bit of a makeover in the NY (as I'm sure plenty are!)

I've got 2 fairly young children, and I'm not feeling good about myself at all so looking at it as a top to toe project Grin

What I would like is a really quick, easy make up routine for a morning. The fewer products the better and ideally items I could grab in my local boots.

I was thinking something I could use to even my skin (a tinted moisturiser?), some blush and something to put on my lips. Treat me like the complete novice that I am, I've never really been one for make up but at 32 and 3 years of broken sleep behind me (and possibly still ahead of me) I need the help to look a bit brighter and less haggard.

Think I'll be on this board quizzing you all plenty over the next few weeks...

If it's just about looking a bit more fresh and awake with the least amount of time and effort then I would opt for the following:

  • A tinted moisturiser, or a compact foundation / foundation stick (I would opt for a powder foundation if you are oily as it will last longer on the skin).
  • An undereye concealer - will immediately make you look fresh and awake.
  • A tinted brow gel (as it will both define and hold the brows so it's a 2 in 1). A defined brow can really help you look polished without being overdone. I really like Benefit Gimme Brow, it's pretty foolproof.
  • Mascara
  • A sheer lipstick or tinted lip balm. Don't go for anything too matte or pigmented, as this requires more precision to apply. You want something you can just swipe on practically without looking, in a shade that enhances your natural lip colour . Burt's Bees do some great tinted lip balms that are cheap and cheerful, otherwise go for a sheer lipstick in a neutral shade.
  • A blush. I personally quite like something with a little shimmer in it (e.g. Nars Orgasm - not quite high street prices but there are plenty of similar blushes about). If you're using a tinted moisturiser or liquid/cream foundation as your base, then a multitasking cream blush that can be used on lips or cheeks could also be a good option.
  • Optional for days where you have more time - A longwear cream eyeshadow stick - you swipe on and blend with a finger and they stay put all day. Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier make awesome ones, but Kiki make a decent version at a lower price

Here is also a really great 5 min makeup routine. All the products are Bobbi Brown but you could easily recreate with some cheaper alternatives:

Not used myself but Boots No7 gets a lot of good feedback.
