Are you happy with it? Does it feel better.
Do they grow back?

I had just over 2.5 KG removed on a plus l never had to deal with inappropriate comments or groping again. the big minus was all the scaring, lack of sensitivity and my nipples are no longer co ordinated but I don't regret it.

I had one three years ago. I went from a 32K to a 32G. I’m pretty disappointed with mine if I’m honest. I wanted MUCH smaller than I got (and that the surgeon indicated was possible)although the uplift helped enormously with at least putting them in the right place. But they are very asymmetrical both in shape but possibly even more importantly in contour to the extent I still only wear the post surgical bras. I’ve never been able to find a normal bra that fits - ironically not the problem I ever had at a K cup. I went to a U.K. surgeon with all the expected accreditations. Having said all that, I found the recovery easy, the scars are just very faint white lines, barely noticeable, and with clothes and a crop top on, I look absolutely fine. My cosmetic result is so bad I was due to have a complete redo with another surgeon (paid for by me) just before covid hit. After the horrors of the last two years, having a re-do seems less important now, so I’m not sure what I’ll do. BUT - even after all that, I’m happier without the massive shelf I had before and I don’t regret having it done. I regret my choice of surgeon, but I know other women who were happy with him, so…. I’d say go ahead but remember that they will only ever show you pictures of their best work, not the botched ones, so be realistic in your expectations.

I got mine done on the NHS in January 2020 for which I will be eternally grateful. I was a 32HH/30J. I'm now a 32dd/e. Should probably wear a smaller back size but can be uncomfortable where the scarring is. The shape is completely different, my nipples were almost at my belly button before. I could go braless now. Clothes look totally different, I can do high impact exercise, my back is loads better.
I had a minor complication of fat necrosis on one breast and the recovery took longer than I thought. Happy to answer any questions if you tag me

AnonyMum21 · 24/12/2021 08:30

I had one 30 years ago, best thing ever.
Yes, scarring present but it cured back ache from heavy weight in bras and made me feel ‘normal’
They have grown back a little - but I’ve gained weight and been pregnant so I’m still in proportion.

Kenwouldmixitup · 24/12/2021 08:39

I’m 34k and desperately wanted one until about two years ago when I and they came to an amicable place of acceptance.

I don’t have back and neck pain nor do they feel heavy to require a bra at night.

What causes the MOST SIGNIFICANT problem is having a comfortable bra. Have found the right style for me at a really affordable price but the quality control of the product is useless so consistent good fit is lucknof the draw.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/12/2021 09:48

An in law had it done. They grew back.

Mine couldn’t be bothered growing once never mind twice.

RampantIvy · 24/12/2021 11:34

Mine neither. Not even when pregnant or breastfeeding. I have come to terms with being flat chested now though.

BeepBoopBop · 25/12/2021 21:42

I had mine reduced from a 36 FF/G to a B. The surgeon recommended accepting a D, for proportion. I said nope. I want as tiny as possible and the morning he marked them up for the op I reiterated I wanted as small as possible. They are a B. I bloody love them, totally and I'm 58. I love buying new tops now.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 25/12/2021 21:47

I'm 'only' a FF cup, but have considered this. Still unsure as I think my boobs are in proportion to the rest of me (I'm quite tall with a big frame and big shoulders, big hands and reasonably big feet). Feel as if I'd look like a gent without the boobs!

But perkiness at 50+ does sound tempting...

IamGusFring · 25/12/2021 21:53

My surgeon allegedly made them proportionate to my frame and size . There were lots of photos and black pen marks on me beforehand and he consulted them during the op.

SarahJessicaParker1 · 26/12/2021 10:13

Interesting gus... still not sure. If I was a size 8 and 5 foot tall OR my size and a H+, I'd be more inclined to go for it.

I'm thinking that maybe an uplift when I turn 50 might be the compromise

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 26/12/2021 10:15

I had a breast lift which is the same operation. Fabulous, they have lasted 25 years, the scars are big but they faded over time to almost nothing.

OldKingCole · 26/12/2021 10:20

Sali Hughes did a really good series on Instagram documenting her experience and answers loads of questions - I would really advise you to look at that - thought me a lot I did not know about it!

boyboyboydogdog · 26/12/2021 10:27

I had one about 15 years ago and went from a 34h to 34Dd and best thing I did. Boobs not grown at all and still nice and perky! Very little pain - just took paracetamol and apart from a few numb patches, no problems.

Notatwite · 26/12/2021 10:58

I really wish I has got one. I’m 61 now and I’m not sure it’s worth it at this age. I’m 5’ and am 32FF and my breasts are dense, very droopy and very heavy. I’ve always felt they were a burden both physically and in the unwanted attention they’ve brought.

BeepBoopBop. What age were you when you had your op?

Westfacing · 26/12/2021 11:07

Had them done 25 years ago - I'm now 67 and they still pass the pencil test! Wish I'd had it done in my 20s - they were not so very large but were droopy and matronly looking.

Someone I know gained a lot of weight and hers grew back, but then reduced when she lost the weight.

I was 56. Felt 10 years younger immediately.

Trumpton · 01/01/2022 06:50

Different to a reduction but I had breast cancer at 68 and a mastectomy in March 2020 ( great timing). I had a skin expander implant fitted with a view to a reconstruction when covid allowed.
In April 2021 I had the implant removed and a second mastectomy for symmetry.
I absolutely love being flat I don’t miss my 36ff boobs at all. I often thought about breast reduction surgery and wish I had had one years ago.

Ginqueen1 · 01/01/2022 07:22

I had one last year and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I went from a double F to a c/d. It has stopped the neck and back pain and I had a huge insecurity about them I always hid my boobs. I now feel confident to go out braless. It is a major surgery and there can be complications mainly infection. I did get an infection but my surgeon and his team looked after me so well and I went in every second day for the wound to be cleaned etc until it cleared. I did want to be a B cup but the surgeon said it was too much of a risk for my nipples. The scarring is big but it is fading and the only person who sees them is me and my husband and he loves them. I have full feeling back already too. Do your research on your surgeon meet a few of them if you can before you decide too.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 01/01/2022 09:19

@Ginqueen1 - could you please PM me details of your surgeon and part of the country if you don’t want to post here?

Movedout · 09/01/2022 21:04

I'm having it done mid February in London. I'm worried about the anaesthetic and the recovery. Any words of comfort would be gratefully received.

@Movedout

Yay! You will be fine. Recovery will be straightforward and you will soon be on your feet. Don't be tempted to buy too many compression bras. Two flesh covered is enough!

BeepBoopBop · 11/01/2022 19:24

@Movedout and buy one of those v-shaped pillows for sleeping. Much comfier for sleeping on your back.

Do you mind my asking how long it took from the first appointment to surgery? I had an appoint in December with a GP who said she’d refer me, but I haven’t heard a thing from anyone since!
