How to manage skin in menopause?

So have had to give up my skin and me as despite dropping the tret lower and lower my skin just really didn't like it. So I figured I'd be better off buying OTC products.

I've ordered some Mizen stuff from Yes Style but it's been weeks and still nothing, but just wondering what products you've find helpful? And if skin doesn't like retinol should I steer clear of vitamin c etc too?

Reaction is red, sore, dry but also little spots. Currently even my make up burns :(

It took me a while to adjust to tretinoin - cicaplast baume is a great product for protecting the skin barrier. Also buffering the tret.

I can’t do tret either. I can do retinol if I build up from the weakest strength.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 20/12/2021 20:21

What problems do you get with the tret? Is it just dryness or irritation. I use tret every other day and then use the ordinary HA with cistoplast balme for the dry areas.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/12/2021 20:23

No it gives me red raw patches that become white heads. I’ve tried buffering moisturising, only using once a week, using 20 mins after cleansing.

It’s just a case of “immediately no”

Snap, and it's worse where there are wrinkles (ie nasolabial folds). I used to have eczema and my skin barrier is pretty crap.

And hormones have pretty much dried out and shrivelled up everything, skin included. Just working on trying to repair barrier

Yep I can see that's a definite no then. Like I say the ordinary are very good and the website is really helpful for giving you a suggested routine, depending on skin goals. It helps they are cheap as well.

I've been working on my skin barrier too folllowing a reaction from vit C. I stopped using it a while ago but my skin still reacts sensitively to products at times. Im menopausal too.

I bought Paula's Choice omega + serum
Also The Nue Co Barrier Culture Moisturizer

Both I really like and so far my skin is faring up well.

I used PC Omega+ last winter too and found it very effective.

Bioessence Squalene Repair and Omega repair cream looks good too though think I went for The Nue co as it was on special offer at cult beauty. They have 30% off at the moment too.

Ooh thank you. Was out with friends last night and one recommended the Ordinary but says she tried the Bioessence and it was amazing.

Puberty turned me into a spotty greaseball which menopause is clearly reversing.

I had used a vitamin C Nivea moisturiser on my face for years but all of a sudden my skin felt like it was turning (am definitely well in to peri).
I've started using La Roche Posay and Bioderma products. My skin looks and feels so much better now.
Personally I prefer the La Roche Posay products but currently using up the Bioderma.

I'm almost 46. I use temple spa be gone cleanser, NGS serum, halluronic acid serum (GOW) and temple spa sensitive moisturiser.
